Looking for non spun center-held bosses for shields I make.
Preferably a source where I can get a stack at a time on a regular basis.

Things i'm looking for:
14-12 G mild steel
6-6.5 dished area
2-2.5 inches deep (more round than coned if possible)
Basic matte and hammered finishes.

Thank you.

Re: serious shield painters of the SCA, a question, pease.

I had a different experience with bar top, It cracked pretty quickly for me.. (A very thin coat would do ok) As for the Canvas tearing, If you use Tight-bond three wood glue to attach it to the face then add a watered down mixture to the top of the canvas, I find it never tears off.. And that the pa...

I've found through my experiances that I cant get a wooden oak or otherwise handle to last very long, I had to switch to a rattan handle cause it gives a little more flex and wont snap. If you prefer wood handles a trick you can do it to laminate several wood planks together then carve the handle o...

To each his own. If I have really thick hide, I use a jig saw with a knife blade if it is not very hard or a regular toothed blade if it is. Most of the time I use just a razor knife or even scissors if it is thin enough. I really hate the way wet hide will roll around on you if you let it. Bjorn I...

I recommend always cutting it wet. Especially near the edges..
If you don't when you soak it you will notice it wont be as straight as you might like it. And wet it cuts really easy with a straight edge and a razor blade which I personally find easier than with shears.

Again depending on time period.. Instead of spending all this money and effort why dont you just Order some fluted plates from Polarbearforge and lace them up. Its cheaper than almost any "Sports" option. They last forever.. I have to relace maybe a row or so once a year. Thats 10-20 minutes of work...

I think its ludicrous to not insure a package just in case something happens, so neather people get screwed.

I use something similar. Although the ones I use are Black.
Some of them are Antimicrobial which is cool.
Its good padding. Takes shots better than most paddings others use..
At least for me.

With as much work and time an armourer puts into something like a helm, why wouldnt they insure it? Unless a customer specifically requests otherwise I would just charge for it. If they request not to have it then thats on them if it doesnt make it. Most people dont get an option, they just hear its...

I used one for planishing the 12g Stainless pieces of a Valsgarde helm.
And with slight mod I peaned most of the Stainless rivets as well..
It Mashed them down tight..
It will do more than it says.. just might take a little bit longer.
