Armourereric AOL account hacked
I don't know if he is even around anymore, but I got an email from armourereric@aol.com with a link to a hacked site. Putting this here since it probably been seen by more people.

Re: So talk to me about period liners
You could always ask one of the ACL guys since they all have period liners. I have one but it was made by a local lady. What she did was wrap my helm in plastic wrap and then duct tape. She made a mark one inch around the edges and cut it out thus creating a pattern. I believe that is what she did f...

Re: Teardrop for 12th and 14th cent?
I am still sort of "confused" as to what specific area I am basing my armour from. I assume that the Swedes were heavily influenced from Germany and maybe a bit from the English. My bascinet is based off the funerary monument of Sir John de Creke (TOMAR, p350) so that would place it as early 14th ce...

Teardrop for 12th and 14th cent?
I have essentially a 12th cent kit that I use for tourney fighting and a 14th cent kit for war fighting. I was using my strapped heater for the 12th cent kit until I recently moved to a center grip tear drop. I want to explore the tear drop more but would like to incorporate it into my 14th cent kit...

Re: Hinges for a Viking box
Yes, that is what I am looking for. Thanks. Was hoping for cheap mass-produced, so I can knock out several boxes, but this will tide me over until I can start making them on my own.

Hinges for a Viking box
I am looking for hinges like the type used on some of Scandinavian finds. I have seen some in bag that looked like they were mass-produced (India?) but failed to remember what it said on the label. I have a blacksmith friend that I am going to ask to teach me how to make them, but in the meantime I ...

Knee Injuries
I recently had knee surgery and attempted to come back (SCA fighting) after a month (with doctors permission), with not so good results. I am now halfway through Physical Therapy and things seem to be going good. When I first damaged my knee, I was wearing my Matterhorn combat boots with the vibram ...

Could you possibly snap a picture of the padding exposed...I am curious as to how to do this. Your project is making me think about making a pair for myself. I can't see from your pictures if there is padding in the fingers. Did you find a pattern on line...I didn't notice a reference in Knitbee's p...

Re: Stimulants in Fighting Competition
I've seen crown lists where one of the likely winners was huffing pretty hard on an inhaler. People with asthma know that no matter big you are, using it six or eight times in an hour is really just dosing on speed  . I've also had the "pleasure" of fighting guys in the list who were admitted...

I know when I throw a shot that is flat, it hurts my wrist. Another good indicator is to make sure every practice you re-wrap your sword and look at where all the nicks are at.

Someone already posted my mention of the dags poking me in the side. I will admit that they do their job in protecting my ass on wraps. I have COP from MadMatt I got several years ago with dag plates. I took the dag plates off the first time when I fell and they jammed me in the gut. Padding a barrel/great helm?
Looking at Pinoc Chello's barrel helm, how would you go about padding that? If you used a suspension liner, wouldn't the bottom rotate and strike you in the chin or cheeks? Or do you just pad the hell out of it? I like those types of helms despite the disadvantages of using them (in the SCA). I imag...

I got a 5-6 oz Latigo hide from Tandy. I was told 8oz, but they didn't have anything in that weight and looking at anything heavier would basically do away with the need for plates.

You may need to make them yourself. I have looked in several hardware stores and online stores, but nothing that looks "good" or "authentic".
