Moog, I guess you can see by now that no one item is best for everything. Just start collecting.

And don't use your teeth.

On a personal note, thanks guys for the info, esp. on the HF throatless. Been kind of nervous about it. It is now next on the list.

Looks great. "What's the point?" is not a "Humble Opinion", it is an elitist put down. "art" is not a four-letter-word. Art of any kind, including reproductions, should be made for oneself, not to please others. Redrook, you do good work. Keep it up. Doing your own thing is not a mistake, cowing to ...

All of the above are great suggestions. And I would suggest all of the above. Don't get him every single book all at once. Start with "BLADE'S Guide to Making Knives" (SR$25). This is a book I've only gotten recently. It showcases a number of different makers and their styles, methods and tools. I t...

As redrook said - great job with limited tools! Make your own tools as needed, including small planishing stakes to mount in a vise. I am currently using the brown casters wax. It works great so far. Once I clean up the shop and have some money I will be ordering pitch form Northwest Pitchworks. Her...

Glue a magnet to the inside, then you could do magnetic feather, ace of spades, etc. The hat is nine kinds of cool. Scary! My wife and I were discussing using magnets in that fashion for something completely unrelated last night and I began think...hmmm... and was trying to figure out how to mount ...

I do plan on using the designs and similar ones on 'armour'. Hadn't thought about the besegews though. As to the historic accuracy thing, its not really my style. Ultimately I decided not to hold up the project. Its in the notes so maybe next time?

I do need to work the finish a little more. Got some scratches and and spots to work out. The idea is to polish the band more.

As to "more to come", that is correct.
