Key Ring Maille?

Has anyone tried using key rings for maille? Key rings, especially "specialty" or "high tolerance" ones, are, by design, very resistant to spreading, unlike ordinary butted maille (nickel plated). Also, key rings are designed to be attached to one another without pliers (although they'd probably hel...

The Zhuge nu, really came into being and use during the Han dynasty {206 BC–220 AD} and wasn't readily used amongst the army of Qin Shi Huang Di if at all. As for armor resources there are several decent books out there with detailed images. One thing I have found most fascinating in recent image...

Of course, you have the right to do what you please with what you have worked hard to produce. Whether you choose to let other people benefit from it, however, depends on whether you think like a businessman, or like a very charitable person. And, naturally, a distinction has to be made between thos...

I say the following as a fencing and Muay Thai fanatic: I love it, I do my 800 or so kicks a day, and I'm still not that good. One of the things I tend to dislike about a lot of martial arts societies is how closely they associate their art with "the way to kill someone." Granted, that is certainly ...

A jigsaw can do ANYTHING. Really. I have one and I use it for everything, including 12 ga mild steel. Replace the blades frequently, and a decent quality one will just zip through 12 ga.

I think the most important thing to remember is that anyone participating in one of these things knows the risks and accepts responsibility over injuries they might sustain. Even if the level of danger is disputed, people should still have the right to do it if they want. And, I imagine, this is pro...

Russian Lamellar

OK, getting started on a Russian kit and am using lamellar for most of the body armour. A few questions about that: 1. What were the typical individual lame shapes and sizes? 2. What were the lames made out of and what were they laced with? 3. How was it worn (layout of lames, whether it opened in t...

Hi!
About to get started on a Русский kit, and am wondering what style of lamellar I should use

Namely:
Shape of lames
methods of bondage
attachment of shoulders, skirts, if available

And of course would appreciate any pics you have!

Face Helms (in particular Russian)

I believe before The Crash there was a thread on helms with faces on 'em that contained a massive number of pics of sweet hats. I'm asking for the same thing but in particular the of the Russian variety (I believe the word is Litchina).

Thanks, Liam
