Re: Corrazina kit?

I'm still interested, but I'd need to get measurements taken over my old gambeson to be confident. My chest actually isn't my biggest upper body measurement - my stomach is. I'll get in touch as soon as I've got that gambeson back.

Re: Corrazina kit?

I am just going to break down and order one from Forge of Svan. Wanted one for a couple years now and I have enough projects I never get to... One shipped to my door that fits me for under $400 new is hard to turn down. I've been seeing some scary reviews on Forge of Svan, like knees that weren't p...

Hi Tatsuo, I'd be extremely interested at that price. I don't recall having seen kits at Pennsic ever, although I'll be hunting there in a few weeks to start getting kitted back up.

I'm not sure how the kits are sized. I think my waist is around 45" unpadded, I think (I'm not a small girl). I need to get new measurements done.

Corrazina kit?

Is anyone still selling corrazina kits? I may actually get back onto the field next year, and a corrazina just looks so super spiff to me :-) But I don't have the budget for a fully assembled one. Plastic would be fine, as would metal. I don't intend to do a lot of tourney fighting beyond authorizat...

Re: Fun with hematomas

My husband has had a couple of hematomas - the first was a football injury due to cleats being dragged up his shin. Skin never broke, but they had to cut off the hematoma after the blood cells had fully coagulated, and he's got a streak shaped scar on that shin. The 2nd was after surgery for gynocom...

Re: Pennsic 2015 fighting

My husband indicated most of the fighting was very clean, even not having a lot of trouble in the Unbelts war point or tournament. He did end up with a badly bruised thumb, though - a couple of shots landed just the same way, even with his full gauntlets on, one during the Century battle I believe, ...

Rope Bed for Pennsic

I know it's *really* late notice, but would anyone be able to build me a rope bed with headboard, delivery at Pennsic? Queen size. Headboard as we tend to launch our pillows otherwise. We want to go rope bed to minimize the amount of stuff we'll need to pack home, and have room to put tubs and stuff...

I'll try to get the measuring done this weekend for ours. I had no reasonable estimate in my head before starting this thread of how much fabric to purchase. I'm thinking cotton duck right now, but will decide when I find a sale.

Do most people build straps into their chair bags or not? Been a while since I've had to deal with any throne-chair-bags.

And yes, Glastonbury-style. That's the name I couldn't come up with. They do disassemble.

Chair bags?

Laurenz and I have come to the realization we need bags to tote our wooden chairs around - they are lovely sturdy Egill chairs that weigh a ton. What I'm not sure on is how to draft a pattern for these chair bags. Has anyone done this before?

Re: Getting back on the field (armor ideas)

Thanks for the reply, Mordreth. The pregnancy didn't make it much past Pennsic, but when our budget opens up a bit this spring, I still want to get a kit together again. Can you advise on what I should look for in an articulated knee cop? I've only worn non-articulated before

Re: Kit Ideas around articulated knees

I've been digging around on Effigies and Brasses to find an image to emulate. But I'm having a hard time distinguishing between floating knees and articulated. Could someone help explain the difference in how they show up in the artwork? I'm familiar with both in an SCA context for sure.

I would like to be there, but I know DH doesn't want to go. He's had bad luck with family members passing away either during our return trip or soon thereafter. Kit Ideas around articulated knees

New year, and want to get started on getting armour together again. I know I'm going to go with articulated knees with fans on heavy duty splinted leather cuisses. Rest of the kit will be flexible as to time/place, although I am pretty sure I'll be hanging the legs off of a pourpoint type vest (big ...

If Ragnvaldr truly wants it, I don't doubt he can win it. Well, that's if Baron Vlachus doesn't go watch the tourney (I'm just teasing here, fond memories of a Crown attended a long time ago before Northshield split off)

Unlike the Mid, Ealdormere is a S/Sh first only Kingdom. I want to change that, but I have to play the normal game first, THEN try to get that changed. There's no way in heck I'm going back to a weight belt. I may try a C-belt, but I do think a vest or suspenders type setup will work better for my s...

Re: Getting back on the field (armor ideas)

The cuisses that failed so spectacularly were Mark II prototypes made by a dear friend. They went all the way around my thighs. I hung them from a weight belt. Would a simple high back point bascinet be appropriate for a helm to go with the splinted leather legs? What sort of profile should the knees have (I'll be going articulated, not floating)? What would be good ideas for torso protection? Would a breastplate be too late compared to the rest?

I don't have a set budget number right now. However, I'd rather go stainless - pretty sure spring steel will be out of reach. So after this baby arrives, I want to work at getting back on the SCA field.
