painted helm in Italy yes or no
How common was painting your helmet in 14th century Italy?
I’ve done some poking around, and have found examples of painted armor,
However none of what I found was Italian.
Thanks.

Re: Problem longbow
That is correct, there is no rest, but the way the grip is wrapped and the bottom nock is rounded off for the stringing process where the top nock is pointed. Needless to say, I’m not holding it upside down. Anyhow, while I’ve always loved them, this is my first longbow and in a way, it’s a good fir...

Re: Problem longbow
I feel silly. My guard was down on this one. Normally I would have played a lot more before purchasing however I wasn’t paying attention due to past successes in dealing with this merchant. Lesson learned.

Re: Problem longbow
Ok, to further this topic (and I thank you all for your input and help) as Wolf pointed out the flat of my bow is to the outside, the “D” toward me when I aim. The poundage is 56# at 28” and having fired it 4 times, it unstrung 3 times and I had to restring once. I took Maeryk’s advice and upon clos...

Re: Problem longbow
The string did come withthe bow, and I did look at teh limbs and didn't see a twist. I'll look again more carefully when I get home.
I thought that perhaps the string is to long, or the string grooves were to shallow.

Problem longbow
Hello all, I have a question for you archers out there. I purchased a longbow that malfunctions when fired. Upon release of my arrow the bowstring pops off (Unstringing itself) when it returns to its “at rest” position. I have purchased bows from this vendor many times, and was always pleased with h...

English archer 14th C.
I’m trying to put together a 14th century archer kit (English) for living history (not SCA legal.). I want to appear as if I am one of the more highly equipped so would it be appropriate if I had a low end Coat of Plates as body protection, or is the highest protection I would acquire a gambeson? ...

I as my partnership’s legs was in violation of the 5 foot charge rule. In this the Marshal’s call was completely valid. As was mentioned earlier, unless you actually ran into someone at the end of your "charge", it wasn't a "charge", no matter how many steps you took. No, we never made contact ...

There has been a lot of talk. So much so that my wife Aesa felt the need to post. As the other 50% of the equation, I figure I should too. There is a lot I could say about this. I could explain the steps I took to make sure that when we met the opposing line that it would be safe for all. I could po...

Trying to make a falcata....need help
All you guys that put in the extra effort to make your SCA weapons look that much more real/correct have inspired me. I’ve tried now several times to make a SCA legal Greek Falcata, but have failed. I just can’t get the shape right. Has anyone made one successfully? Any advice?
Thanks.
Thanks.

WTB Helm for 22" head
Hey all.
I've been put in charge of finding a Helm for a 22" head. This is for a starter kit.
I'd like to pay around $100 + shipping.
Again not looking for anything special.
Thanks.

Albion armour question
Does anyone have experience with Albion's armour?
Do you think this would stand up to SCA combat?

Bows
Look into Elk Ridge Archery....they are at Pennsic.
I got my wife a Korean Horsewoman's bow and a Magyar Bow. I got myself a Mongol.
We love shooting all three, and the quality is great. They take trade-ins as well....a real pleasure to do buisness with.

I've seen a trident in use, so when I saw one of these, and got to thinking, I couldn't help but to ask. That said....I'm not looking to hurt anyone. Truth be told, I'm not looking to "catch" anyone either as that sort of thing is against the rules. I can see the danger posed to the neck, a target I...

Would something like this even be passed for SCA?
If so, how would you make one that would be legal and still function as a "catcher"?

Thanks for the help.
I'm taking my dear sweet time in putting together a mid 15th C. Italian kit.
I have done a lot of image searches and didn't find anything. I figured I'd ask anyway.
Thanks again.

If I understand correctly, all for $500 + shipping, I'll take it!
All I ask is a day or so to work out the money.
IF this is ok with you, you have a buyer.
