Re: Latchet shoes - who sells decent ones?

Do you carry the #1's? The open latchets were what I was looking for.

Latchet shoes - who sells decent ones?

So the Title should make it obvious. I'm looking for some leather, open latchet shoes. Westland seems to run inconsistent with their sizing as well as worrying if the order will ever be filled. Any other suggestions?

Damn Ye Llewelyn! I had to bite my tongue, walk away from the computer and hide my wallet for fear of my wife skinning me alive if I bought more swords so soon! Looks like a damn fine piece though :)

Re: Painted tent decoration.

Mine is a Sunforger. One piece of advice I got after the fact that may have helped. Get a "pounce" brush. It's a flat round sponge on a stick that is specificly made for painting with stencils. Instead of brushing on the paint, you pounce or poke the brush straight up and down on the area you are pa...

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Once you start buying from them, nothing less will do. Scott goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are happy and stay that way.

Or you could do my dad's favorite manuver: "Hold on a second." Tucks index finger under armpit for second, pulls it out, holds it up and looks at it. "Yep, just as I thought. I'm about a quart low on my give-a-damn."

Re: A word about meadmaking sanitation...

A couple tricks I've used over the years: 1) when clarifying your mead in the carboy (I age clarify rather than add fining agents) shove a paperback book under one side of the carboy so you have a few degree slant to your carboy. It will encourage the lees to slide to one edge and you will loose les...

Re: New SCA rapier rule

Galfried: one way to avoid that, (and granted it does not work unless you are purchasing in person) is to buy your own 6oz weight and test it before buying. As for purchasing over the internet I would say: read the return policy very carefully. YMMV

BTW, just perusing the other pictures, your mortuary hilt looks like a piece of sweetness. With C&T becoming more popular it wouldn't hurt to develop that either.

Quick question, how big is the knuckle guard? I typically fight with two fingers through for a little extra leverage.

Re: WTF The Art of Dueling by Tom Leoni at a reasonable cost

Cedric: I would say hang tight. From what I understand after Tom is able to wrangle some legal issues with Chiv Bookshelf (long story, and I don't know all the facts) he may reprint with a different publisher. Granted this is conjecture and does not help you in the short term. But if you are simply ...

Re: Rapier Clothing Closures?

I made cloth buttons for my doublet, but there are 26 of them and it is a pain in keister when you get to the top and realized you either missed one, or you were off a hole the entire way. That said, it does add a certain amount of periodness to the outfit. On the upside, it doesn't take much to unb...

Re: What is a good source of canvas for pavilions?

Save yourself a bucket of tears and dissappointment and bite the bullet and buy good Sunforger canvas. Yes, it's more expensive, but it will last, and you won't get "misted" whenever it rains. It comes in 36" and 58" widths. If you can get some folks to go in with you, you can buy a whole roll from ...
