So instead of rivets they are tied onto a jacket....still seems more like a coat of plates then lamellar. Wasn't korean armor kinda like this?

Good point on the goob factor....I wish i could verbalise accuratley the strange training of a person fighting in the sca.....Unless they have been picked and chosen by a high level fighter and brought in to the game, most of us start out in the "goob pool".....We are given instructions in the basic...

Hey all,....Deer season is fast approaching and I will have access to a lot of deer parts(I'm hunting this year and I make jerky for other hunters) Anyways, I allways thought that I could make buttons from deer teeth....some dremel tool action and drill a hole or two....anyone try this?...is it doom...

A nine foot hardwood pole bound in iron or brass at the ends.....and traditionally the early models were fairly thick....were they not? I think they could give most armoured guys something to think about. unless you were keeping them around 6' I do not think rattan would be a good choice....anything...

Wasn't the axe a fairly popular melee weapon in japan during a certain time? You cannot doubt it's effectiveness....I used to know the japanese name for a pollaxe....I'll have to google it.

Cool, thanks for taking the time to explain. And you are right about the bounce aspect with rattan.....I've been using buckler alot and have been trying to work on angling the blade so as to direct their sword during a block/parry or to try and trap their blade between my buckler and their shield......

I know we are talking about fighting, but in defense of the sca and whether or not what we do is "historical".....I've learned how to make armor, the reasoning for how armor evolved and the same with weapons.....I've learned how to cast bronze and silver....to make leather starting from a green hide...

And I am saying that you can say your book says this or that, but the truth of the matter is you are fighting a prescribed technique with prescribed moves and counters.....it is not a slight or a slam but the truth....it is like sca people who only fight local....you get so used to knowing what shot...
