Re: got this today!

i´ve got a model from good old eastern germany, from a VEB. Once you´ve got good Pictures or measurement, i can compare both. It looks quite similar

best regards,

facebook did work just fine.

Eric, is there a way to long-distance-hug you? Had a rough day, been watching for a workshop for two years now, but your videos are simply great. Thank you very much :)

Re: My latest making of video.

Leider ist dieses Video, das Musik von SME beinhaltet, in Deutschland nicht verfügbar, da die GEMA die Verlagsrechte hieran nicht eingeräumt hat.

WHYYYY oh WHYYYYYYYY , i hate german GEMA...... (basically music censorship because youtube doesn´t want to pay a fixed price for every click!!!!)

Re: Xmas gift for a German Blacksmith?

or if he is into Blacksmith-Stuff you could look at www.angele.de and order him something from there. The leather aprons for Blacksmiths are pretty expensive but so beautiful (and chrismas approved, my girlfriend bought me one last year 8) )

try to form the "points" in the middle. You´ve flutes the whole piece and then there´s just plain metal around the two rivets. If this area would match the rest, the whole piece would certainly look more consistent and pleasing!

just try to flute along the borderline of each point.

you could weld a new hard face on the bick. At least that´s how some anvils get restored, and milling the face flat should be a lot easyer with only a small face like a bick iron. As for the proper welding rods and so one, has anyone seen halberds ^^

and i´d guess it follows the same goal. Gladiator armour is intended to keep the fighter alive and thus making the fight interesting. The lack of cover in certain parts would be to still achieve a hit, but clearly exposed "easy" targets are covered. Same thing is with later armour, just without the...

hi, i don´t know how much harder SCA is to live-steel freefighting (blunt edge :) ), but i´ve never used padding between gauntlet and glove. for me, a good leather glue and stitches along the outside worked fine, just make sure not to use a very thin twine, or it´ll cut into the leather, and depe...

if i´m getting this right, you should have 4 rivets in the cop and 2 of these connecting to each lame (one above one beyond) , like indicated by the crosses on the pattern

a Kastenbrust (box-chest) is already very boxy, i´d guess its flutes on this boxy-flat surface. But i haven´t seen it myself. Maybe when i´ve more time to spare, i´ll go there and make some decent photos. (pics were made after ´45 so i hope it survived)

the piece is in a small church no more than 40km away from me ^^ . Its in Thüringen (Thuringia), middle Germany.
I´d like to see the one who made all the flutes in an already domed knee. Yeah i guess someone really learned to flute that day.

Hi,

Schamkapsel is the correct term for codpiece, die Scham is the persons private area, and kapsel means capsule. Piece this together and you´ve got a storage area for certain bodyparts, and iirc a place to store your money.

i think it looks great, if at all, i would make the screw from brass or else. This would give it some contrast but it´ll keep the mean look. Some reenforcement at the top made of brass would look nice though.

Ups,

of course it´s Gesicht, i was rather short on time, so thank you for pointing out the typing errors. As said, a little sketch will do most of the work for you, especially if the Staff is´t familiar with SCA-Marshals methods of inspection (which is near 100% likely).
