1580s Spanish/Continental harness

I've been lurking for a couple years, focusing on other things since my kit was relatively stable. But I just got around to repainting it for An Tir's May crown tournament. Here's the latest look of my SCA harness.

White Falcon Tailoring - Arming doublet and jerkin

Hi everyone! I've been away a while because my armor was in a stable state and I was focusing on other hobbies. But I'm back to making garb and some time this summer I'm going to have to update my soft kit as I modify and streamline my hard kit. Coincidentally, I've started taking commissions for cl...

Re: Describe your "perfect" SCA kit

I'm in mine... http://wiki.antir.sca.org/images/5/5d/Jose_CdC_in_Armor_2011.JPG All I want to add is cased greaves and those are already on the docket and paid for. Just need to wait for my armorer's docket to clear of my buddy's helm and then he'll be getting a mold of my legs and get to work. Okay...

Re: The Litany of Honours (SCA)

In An Tir, the full opening before a formal bout is (in my region, anyway) "In this <BLAH> round of <BLAH> tournament, here do meet in honorable combat <SO AND SO> and <SO AND SO>." In the first round, this tends to be the entire title and name of each combatant. In subsequent rounds it tends to get...

Re: 16th century Illuminatti time to show off your kits!!!

The doublet is not presently pointed to the breeches, but that is a goal. For now, the skirting is more vital, and I made the breeches... in an interesting way, using bands of elastic sewn throughout each leg to give them a nice scrunched effect that hugs the leg. So right now, they aren't really se...

Re: 16th century Illuminatti time to show off your kits!!!

The doublet is my own custom pattern, cut a little more roomy so that I could design in padding. I took my pattern from a combination of things, but mostly from Alcega's cutting guides which show -approximately- the right pieces and then I just worked with them until I figured out how they would fit...

Skadoosh. Finally got a pic of my armor after using it for most of a year. Wish I had some photos from when it was all shiny and nice, but the battle-scarred version is kind of scarier.

Re: 2011, Kits...Let's see them!

Oh, it's been a long time since I've had anything to contribute. And just now, like literally five minutes ago, I finally got the e-mail with pictures of the fighting kit I've been using for the last year. So, a journey, if you will. Many years ago, I started fighting in this: http://wiki.antir.sca....

Very nice. Mine is slightly later (if you consider 50 years, give or take "a bit") and still a work in progress.

May it bring you joy in combat and strike fear into your opponents.

Yeah I would have thought a drill with a 1/2" head on it would carve that sucker right out. Depending on the size of the haft there wouldn't be much material left after you took a chunk that big out.

I think what you should get is someone on a high vantage point (tall ladder?) to film from above. Like in football, it's so much easier to tell what's going on in the overall struggle from a birds-eye view. Having someone else to document the up close and personal view from a low angle would also be...
