Re: Seeking Review of TI Gauntlets and Gauntlet Recommendati
Thanks for the quick response! Would a pair like this be more do-able? Getting a little tired of having a particular finger smashed, hence the bifurcation.

September 24-15 - Triangle European Martial Arts Conclav
I figured now would be as good a time as any to get this on the radar! The Knightly Order of the Fiat Lux's Triangle NC Chapter will be holding a European Martial Arts seminar at Camp Royall in Moncure, NC on September 24th and 25th. Activities include various fighting competitions, classes, seminar...

Re: Seeking Review of TI Gauntlets and Gauntlet Recommendati
If I may hop in with a question, myself - do they do bifurcated gauntlets?

Re: 15th Centuryish legs for sale
Those're some really nice looking legs! I'd be interested were it not for the fact that my legs are too damned meaty. Curse my T-rex DNA! Do you have any shots of the backs of them? Likewise any shots of the proposed greaves?

I count myself very fortunate that in 26 years, I've never seen someone die, and only been to 2 funerals in my life. Even now, I still don't know how I'd react. As for the context of medieval combat somehow being glorious, we make sure that in all of our demonstrations and living history presentatio...

FS: Dragon Scale Armory breast/back, bracers, gorget
A few months ago, I won a leather armor set in a charity auction sponsored by my Order. I ended up winning a black leather breast/back with corresponding bracers and gorget. The only pictures I have at the moment are the one offered by the maker's site, but I can get more detailed pictures if needed...

I've been reading over this thread and I like what I see. I won't be at Pennsic, but I've been busting my hump to improve my fighting so that once I get my own gear, I'll be able to fight live steel with my Order. Let's see if I can drastically improve in the same time frame! This past Tuesday was g...

Not bad at all. There's a group in (I believe) the midwest called Heavy Metal Combat. Unfortunately, they've removed all of their videos, but they are like a blend of WWF (or is it WWE now?) and armored combat. These guys fling each other around the field, go at it with baseball bats, flaming swords...

I can certainly vouch for having to spice things up for the sake of a crowd. The Fiat Lux does get paid for some of our fights, but it is all donated to charity. Many fights when we pass the helm we consider ourselves lucky to walk away with $15, but good fights and good shows bring good money. What...

I for one would love to give my own techniques a shot versus their styles. I'm almost certain that it would make me a more robust fighter. Rattan and even heavy contact boffer can certainly generate some substantial force. Stopping on a hit everyone knows is good is a fine way to keep score. My Orde...

Thanks for answering my questions about the scoring. You have a very good point about the German fechtbuchs - fights very frequently went truly hand to hand. There are tons of treatises on armored grappling out there, to be sure, but I think the discussion here is as diverse as the various fighting ...

Thanks for not using Bodies! If I hear that song in conjunction with fighting again I'll take a trip back to the 90s to beat someone senseless. To its' benefit, awesome aggression. I saw very little trepidation on behalf of any of the fighters displayed. Likewise, there were quite a few interesting ...
