It's the bone that joins your thumb to your wrist. The gauntlets only have a thin layer of leather covering that point of contact, so I'll just add a small piece of thicker leather to the inside of the gauntlet to cover it.

anyone know who did them, and if there ever was a tutorial... or pictures... or somewhere to buy them?

Figting in a closed-face helm

ok, so currently I'm fighing in an Ashcraft-baker spun (then rewelded) normanesque helmet. No complaints there, since it was an inexpensive helmet that go me on the field fast. However... I think it's about time for me to start looking for a proper helmet that's actually made for me. For years, I've...

Seriously, galvonic etching cuts through stainless really well. If you want to know how to do it, there was a thread around here somewhere.

Interesting. My girlfriend, who's been riding and training horses for over 20 years, and fighing in the sca for almost half that long pointed out that those gauntlets would be pretty close to perfect if you were on a horse. I was trying to figure out why they'd make 'em like that... but she came up ...

ok, I've been thinking about it and I just can't figure it out. How well would those three fingered gauntlets work? I mean, the lames curve around the middle two fingers of your hand - a double thickness of metal, now less. your fingers would end up splayed a fair bit, no?Would you still be able to ...

Barbute for sale

i've got a custom made barbute for sale, made by Carlo at truehearth. It'll fit a 24" head easily, with room for padding. It's a nice helm, with a 12 gauge top and 14 gauge sides (I didnt want to get big ol' dents in it. You can see a pic of it on Carlo's site http://www.dbis.ns.ca/~carlomeg/cwork.h...

Brigandine steel?

What is the best non-spring steel material to make a brig (for sca use) out of? I've worked on a test brig out of 18 gauge mild... but I'm a little worried about the weight. i know the plates will get dinged up fairly easily, but that's not TOO critical to me - they can always be bent back into shap...

Well, whoever you were - the helmet fit's me quite well, and I've got a 24" head. It should fit + or - an inch or so off of that.

ok, I realize this thread was from a while back, but I have a question for Sinric... in the pictures of the green brig, it looks like the plates are riveted from the bottom up - i.e. the lower plate overlapps the upper plate, instead of the other way around.
