Do you have a bigger picture? They're probably too short, I'm 6' but skinny

What size are those elbows? I'm a pretty skinny dude and they seem to be one size.

Re: LF/WTB cheap aluminum (or plastic?) simple shoulders/elb

Why aluminum/plastic? Ironmonger armour does good work, but may not respond until after pennsic. Rough from the hammer on Facebook does stainless and mild steel cops fairly cheap. Because I'm going to be wearing them in the water. I'm putting together a set of arms for whitewater kayaking because m...

LF/WTB cheap aluminum (or plastic?) simple shoulders/elbows

I see Bokalo. Are they good to go in terms of actually getting your stuff? Always seems to be another previously reputable armory going bonkers.

Any other good options?

Re: Slightly OT--adapting combat arms for WW Kayaking

Not a bad idea. Most kayak clothing is made of either neoprene or stretchy athletic cloth (neither of which is what I want to use) and this is my first water sport so I'm not super familiar with what is used in other applications. A thought though--would plastic lamellar be flexible enough to go aro...

Slightly OT--adapting combat arms for WW Kayaking

Hi all, So I've been getting into whitewater kayaking. Arm protectors are sometimes worn as paddlers start to hit higher level runs, especially by those like myself with a history of arm injury that they want to protect, but I've been very disappointed with the flexibility impediment of most modern ...

Early--mid 14th c. English side-hinge bascinet

Commissioned this from Jackie of Shamrock Armory about five years ago, have moved around a bunch, never ended up getting into heavy fighting so it's never been used. So, for your pleasure, one brand new bascinet. 14 gauge stainless with mild polish. Never fought in. I have a 23" head. I was intendin...

Re: Best batting material?

Mordreth/anyone else, what comparison would you make between wool, 50/50 bamboo, or full bamboo? I would think if the bamboo is a rayon it would about kill you with lack of insulation in winter. How's the wool batting do in summer? Wool can be the best or the worst when it's warm.

Best batting material?

I'm looking to make/have made an arming cap or perhaps padded hood/mantle to wear inside a helmet with leather suspension. It will not be primary padding for SCA or other heavy fighting but will need to be paddy enough to take the worst out of errant but possibly strong headshots in either living hi...

How much did you charge for those Rod? Minus extra charges for the tooling.

That's the biggest load of crap ever but you're probably not entirely wrong. But hey, the powers that be would rather see people off to the emergency room for broken hands than see someone scrape their knuckle.

Re: ISO low vis hand pro for Dagorhir/living history

Hema style gloves with heavy leather finger bucklers? What kind of prior injuries have your hands sustained? I work with my hands and make armour so I tend to over armour when it comes to my hands. I've thought about finger bucklers. That would probably do the trick, but isn't quite what I'd like v...

Or, what type of plastic are plastic lamellar plates made of? Finger gauntlets made of that materials in one of their brown shades would be good enough. Wouldn't even really need to be covered with leather.

Nope. Could they be done in kydex? Those in kydex/[insert impact resistant plastic here] would be perfect.

Although, $1000 a pair is probably outside my price range . . .

Re: ISO low vis hand pro for Dagorhir/living history

I'm 7th century Irish/Saxon. Long tunics, tight trousers, mail when I feel like it (got 6mm in Icefalcon's introductory sale, still going strong), spangenhelm. There is no authentic hand protection, so visually just looking for unobtrusive. I've had major reconstructive surgery to put one of my hand...

Re: ISO low vis hand pro for Dagorhir/living history

(And yes, for the record, I'd really rather just get some lightweight spring steel finger gaunts, but some of the paranoid old LARP physics types who vote on rules still think metal gauntlets are somehow dangerous, it doesn't make sense why, so plate metal hand protection is strictly forbidden. Re: ISO low vis hand pro for Dagorhir/living history

A lot of living history types go for something like this: http://www.angelfire.com/mb2/battle_hastings_1066/pics/kitgloves.jpg But because of that history of hand injuries I mentioned, I'm not sure that's going to cut it for me. A lot of the larp centric leatherworkers do things like this: http://im...

ISO low vis hand pro for Dagorhir/living history

I've basically figured out I'm never going to get into SCA heavy fighting, especially since the local group in my area imploded. Oh well. I'm still active in Dagorhir though (which contrary to what I've gathered of the average SCAdian's imagination, is far from an injury-less sport, and has an activ...

Thinking about selling my size medium shirt of Icefalcon's 6mm alternating round riveted and solid ring mail. This is one of the most historically accurate mails available. What are the prices for this looking like on the secondary market? Mine is still in excellent condition, not much used.
