Just saw this.
I actualy fought Sir TJ about 20 years ago when he was wearing his helm. It worked just fine. Your sword feels different when you hit the helm but he is well protected. It has a steel frame and boiled and waxed leather. I remember that it was realy hard all those years ago. Like wood.

This needs to be lost wax cast or assembled. You could cut the lion out of brass and then file the dimension into it and engrave the details. Then blind rivit it to a contrasting color plate. Maybee brass on copper to get the vert affect. If you realy want green I am not sure what is the best way. I...

Aermus you bring up some great points. Myu knight Duke Olaf lives near you. Find him and you will see a diferent side of the SCA. But I do think the problem with the sociaty might be with the way the groups operate. They realy arent that friendly to newcommers. I never understood that and it is even...

I always felt that the difference between a&s politics and fighter politics is that the fighters can knock each other around and they (we) know the pecking order. A&S types just keep arguing like the energizer bunny. I always laughed at the A&S people in Bergentall who said stick jocks n...

Gavin is so right I think royal agendas muddle things. Anyone remember Islin's war. Probably the most lopsided war ever. Why is Pennsylvania fighting with the MId. ??????? Atlantia grew from the East and is mostly loyal to the east. I remember the war that I was knighted. I wanted to fight so bad. I...

My favorite pell was an old army duffel bag filed with old roled up carpet reminents.
You can swing it for a moving target and put strips of duck tape on it as targets.
I like to hit the tape strips at the same angel as the tape.
Post pells are nice but the eat rattan even if you pad them.

What an intresting subject. I registered just to add my 2 cents. I have been in the SCA for longer than I can rember. My first fight pratice was in the early 80s. During my second reign in Atlantia my son was born. He know lives with me. He's 18. I also have an apprentice who is 20. My apprentice ha...
