Some of you on the board remember the topic I posted about this saw... We'll after some patience I finally found a used one on Ebay selling for 199.00 the seller says its worn but works great! One thing I noticed is that there were no bids and he had the "make an offer" option up... So I made an off...

I use a Ridgid palm nailer... Sets a SS rivet in less than 5 seconds... It produced a very flat pancake rivet... Best tool on the market... Sure a hammer is pretty and period but for speed and perfect rivets every time, use a palm nailer. Oh and I don't use a tool in the nailer itself... The socket ...

this is just a suggestion: If the top was made in 1 piece that lip would be easy to fold over and you wouldn't have to spend time cleaning up welds. My only problem with a one piece top is that I've never folded a top plate like that before so I due to time constraints, I figured I'd just do it the...

My first attempt at a rapier hilt
So having as much fun as I do with bar work I figured i'd try my hand at making a rapier hilt... I didn't have a normal SCA approved blade to build it from but I did have a S2000 Sabre blade just lying around so I used that... I figured that the principles are all the same... Things I would change f...

Problem is, I have no clue on how to form the top so that its pointed... I'll be cold forming the top. I'm hoping that so...

2nd attempt
Ok... this attempt was utilizing the adhesive Vinyl as I mentioned in a previous post... I drew this in CAD then ran it through the printer. Being vinyl the ink doesn't want to set up (which was expected) but with a steady hand I just cut it out with my Xacto knife without smearing the ink. I don't ...

I pulled the part from the solution after an hour... With the bulb removed from the solution the cut was deep and fast. I didn't put my calibers on it but i'm pretty sure its about .02" deep. And considering how sharp the edge of the cut is, I would guess that both resists worked for a while before ...

Etching (Updated)
So after reading up s'more on the subject, I wanted to go ahead and try the battery method of etching on some mild steel... Just salt water for the solution and I used nail polish as a resists and just free handed the design... First I drew the design in CAD and then cut out the template. To empose ...

If I were not drawing the designs out in CAD I could see it being considered cheating... And I'm not in the SCA (however most of my friends are) so I don't see myself in the Laurels race at the moment. I'm just looking at doing things I'm good at and then using the best process to make the best prod...

My wife gets the vinyl from a sign store locally for free... She just gets scraps... But these scraps are quite large for what I would need... As for duck tape... I don't think it would since there is a layer of fabric inside duck tape... This would probably cause havoc on the machine... And if duck...

Etching Resist question
I've been toying with the idea of trying my hand at etching steel and what not... After the typical AA reading up on the subject I was wondering... If vinyl material would be a sufficent resist... Here why I ask... My wife owns a cricuit machine which so happens can cut vinyl... If I buy a specific ...
