ISO: Ebonwoulfe or Strawberry Fields cup hilts
I am looking for the Ebonwoulfe/Strawberry Fields style cup hilt. It does not appear that either are selling theirs any longer and I want a few.

Re: How to Evaporust
A few general things: You definitely need to do the evaporust as a bath. At least a few hours I found to be effective (sometimes more). I only do maille, so as Mac suggests is likely the best to prevent it not covering the plates evenly. Maybe figure out some sort of system with spacers or lace so y...

Does this not have 4 sets of lacing holes in the front? Do you have an example of how that looks on? It appears it is wool lined in linen, is this correct? Do you have the hosen to match?

Re: NEGATIVE REVIEW OF ARMOURANDCASTINGS.COM BEATHAN ET AL
Man. I don't understand all the folks wiling to let a vendor off the hook for shipping problems. When I buy something online, I am paying a vendor to handle both the product and shipping it to me. The fact that the vendor contracts with someone to do some work on their behalf is not my problem. And...

Re: NEGATIVE REVIEW OF ARMOURANDCASTINGS.COM BEATHAN ET AL
Well, if they got the items in the mail then yes... It would be out of their hands. I ship a lot of things and don't expect to be held accountable for the postal system. Did you ask for the package to be insured? It's not a typical procedure for eastern Europeans and can cost quite a bit, and certa...

I do wish stout Hrothgar would get back and tell us more about what hat he's dealing with. Anything more on your end, Jestyr? For instance: http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=175245 Which looks like Hrothgar committed to riveted mail. To my knowledge Hrothgar has not purchas...

Re: WTB hidden plastic knees and elbows
I would second Bokalo. While not plastic, his aluminum are light and sturdy. I prefer the welded cops, as they fit a little better with a bit better coverage. He also makes a lot of different sizes (unlike Valkrie Forge) so it FITS you.

Re: 18g vs 16g Maille
Ok couple of quick questions. For HEMA is there any major benifit to wearing 16g 9mm flat riveted/flat solid maille hauberk instead of 18g of the same construction? Or is 18g even allowed? And the same questions go for SCA as well. Would I be allowed to wear 18g 9mm flat ring riveted/solid maille a...

Re: What do you think about laser-cut visors?
The first one had a wonderful eastern european / ottoman feel - I loved it. Personal preference worked against the elaborite visors of bascinets - Eastern europe had "cage face" bascinets, so at least in that case it's more authentic. I was thinking the exact same thing. In the first helm, the lase...

Re: Center Grip - Heater vs Oval
I would argue that what is "better" is what is more accurate for your kit. If you are purely asking for what is best for winning an SCA fight, I would say that it is personal preference. Use both and see what suits your style best. Regardless, the best fighters win regardless of their shield shape, ...

Re: Things We See (and Things We Overlook) in the SCA
I see exactly what you mean--it's the whole environment and experience, not just the clothes and armor. I'm not in the SCA, only been to Pennsic once, but there are similar concerns in other modes of reenacting and living history. Sure, there are always some "givens", such as 30 different groups fr...

Who is working in spring steel and makes Shield Bosses?
I am likely looking to commission one quickly. I would prefer 4130, but am open to other options. I would want to see examples of the work, as I already have one that I had commissioned, but it was not done really well (symmetry is off, surface was poorly planished, and a little bigger than I wanted...

Things We See (and Things We Overlook) in the SCA
Another thread got me to think a bit. It was of a suit of armour in an ad for Citrix and the poster said, "Just had this ad pop up on LinkedIn, and found 5 horrible mistakes in less than 5 seconds - any takers for critiques?" And he was right. There were obvious mistakes that many people pointed out...

I bought them from a friend pre-owned (he never used them). They were originally made by Wulfe Armoury. I am not sure if he is making much armour these days. They are spring steel, mostly covered in leather. I am pretty sure that the color that you see on the knuckle and fingertips were from how the...

Re: 2016 Show us your kits!
Thank you. I know the color of the tunic is just my modern aesthetic creeping in. I am doing a mid to late 11th century, hence the shorter tunic is more appropriate. I agree that the longer tunic length is more 12th century, but then the maille should have full-sleeves, as opposed to the 2/3 sleeves...

Review: Sevastian
I commissioned Sevastian for a Mild Steel Norman Conical with attached nasal. I wanted mild steel because I planned on painting it as (likely) depicted in the Bayeaux Tapestry. My requirements were simple: It had to have good lines, fit me really well, and the aventail should be attached in such a w...

WTB Finger Bucklers
Recently picked up a pair of finger gauntlets, so I want to have a pair of finger bucklers so I don't hurt the digits. :-) Ideally they would be spring steel for reduced weight, and covered on the outside with leather to match the gauntlets (early period persona). That said, I can always cover them ...

I don't need re-payment for half of the aventail. Aaron, you can keep the difference to keep your donation a little more reasonable.
