Re: Anybody need some SPOONS?
ah. Like i said, I think that its pretty well far beyond my skill set.. I could do the fork, with a bit of planning, I think, but that type of spoon (roman?) is beyond me at the moment.

Re: Anybody need some SPOONS?
I'm confused. Did you just hijack my thread to push the Levantia set, or were you asking if i could make something like it?
either way, that set is pretty cool, and I have not the skills to make it.

Re: Anybody need some SPOONS?
sorry to everyone who has communicated with me regarding spoons. My wife had our baby a bit prematurely, and I have been out of the shop for several weeks, as well as out of contact.
I expects to return to the smith sometime after the 4th.
Thank you all for your patience.

I have the book somewhere, but I'm not looking it up at 3:33AM. ;) According to the book, it is just cooking oil from the kitchen mixed with equal parts candle ...

I believe that the the transmission of dysentery can be attributed to unsanitary conditions in the camp as much as it can be to contaminated water... only takes one infected guy forgetting to wash his hands after a visit to the slit trenches...

Re: Anybody need some SPOONS?
I managed to get some work in before this nifty storm set in, and i have some pics to prove it. First off, a mismatched set of two. Both have bowls that are profiled more authentically to period pieces. The one on the left turned out better than expected, and was made from flat stock, the one on the...

I assume that this issue has been resolved already, but a quick trip to the fly tying section of your local sporting goods store (or the like) will provide silk thread in a mutlitude of colors. one example: http://www.roserushbrooke.com/for-fishermen/ff-pearalls-gossamer-gold.html I realize that its...

Re: Finding Water
I agree, I have spent alot of time in the backwoods (Pacific Northwest) and have consumed (imbibed?) plenty of un-filtered/un-boiled/un-treated water from rivers and streams. I'm not dead yet. I do seek water as close to the source as I can find it, fresh runoff, fast moving small creeks etc. If unt...

powder coating
I read this post, and had a random thought. I have seen powder coats available for home use, in the fishing tackle industry, specifically for the powder coating of jigheads. the way those ones work, as I understand it, is that the item to be powder coated is preheated, then dipped into the powder, t...

http://www.legend-reno.com/ http://www.minerox.com/ These are two places that sell crucibles fairly cheaply. Hmm... I'm flummoxed. A pic of the inside would probably reveal all that is needed (I'm not saying that we can get one, just that it would probably show us). I do agree with the idea that this is possible by skinning the leg "whole" and creating a tube, (this case appears not to be cylindrical, but ...

Hello Archivers! On a mid 15th century arm harness, should the curve of the rearbrace leave the entire bicep exposed from the outside of the arm to its opposite point on the inside? For example, Sinric's 15th century arm harness pattern, located here on the Archive at http://www.armourarchive.org/pa...

Outstanding! I was hoping that I could get away with adding fabric. At the moment, the shirt is too short to tuck in to braes (sp) or hose. This is intended for the 3rd quarter of the 15th century (around 1470). If I add fabric, the seam between existing shirt and added fabric will be above the bott...

I screwed up / fixing a linen shirt
So there I was, dutifully slaving away in my quest to sew (my first garment ever), and after many pricked fingers, and re-stitched seams, to my horror, I realized that the lower hem on my new linen shirt reaches only to about an inch and a half below the navel to the point of the hips.. (damm mine h...

Hi there,
I was just wondering if you had any luck yet with finding the brooch that you liked.
if not, by any chance do you have an example of the type or style of eagle that you were looking for?
