Again, recruit new people. It may get the old people back out, it will definitely keep you coming out. Invest in them.

Re: How do you train when locals don't go to practice?

When that doesn't work because people are burnt out, go recruit new people. Excitement of the new people is what gets the old people back into it. Not obligation.

Re: Center Grip - Heater vs Oval

I'm sure when it comes down to it skill is always the factor. I have a center gripped heater and I am not a great fighter. In my kingdom almost all of the greatest tournament fighters use either style. If I were to list them I believe that at this point more use or used a CgO verses a CgH. I think i...

Re: Skills All Good Elizabethan Gentlemen Should Know

Nobles studied Economics, Warfare, were well read, and could converse on philosophy or other topics. They were the leaders and rulers. Study the things they studied, not the skills of those they ruled over.

14th Century Chain Shirt Questions

So I have seen pictures of chain shirts used by re-enactors that basically have buckles up the front and have a leather hem on the bottom and possibly the arms. Is this something that was ever found in the 14th century? Did they just shimmy them on like we did or would they actually have some form o...

I'm not trying to pick a fight. How would a bar mace diversify your weapons versus say, learning other weapons systems? What are you seeing as an advantage with a bar mace that I am not? :)

Re: Basket Hilts on mass weapons

Honestly a bar mace unless really short would probably be pretty heavy too and I doubt you would want to swing it one handed in our game. (If' we are role playing the rules here.) Perhaps we could help you figure out how to make your gauntlets work better?

Please document the skirt building process. I'd love to have a rig like this and I'd wear it. Im working on getting the last of the weight off so I can have that hourglass figure for this kind of rig or for a proper corazina.

Let's make this a couple of different discussions in the same thread. 1. What really works? What works for a unit, and what works for you? Why do you use the weapon you do? Get specific about the weapon if you can, length, weight, ect. 2. Post pictures of freakin awesome Deed Weapons! My first forei...

Honestly everyone needs to have an easy double, even if it's recorder. and Basically Louder instruments were built for marching or playing outside, Brass, Pipes, Big Drums. The rest were for smaller inside ensembles, as you have gathered. A guy building some good stuff at a lowere range price: https...

If you are looking for Repertoire you need to get Al Cofrin's books. They are pretty standard among the ren faire crowd who want to do real period music and stretch back to the liber vermil. (Sorry my spelling sucks.)

He is a hoot to jam with as well.
