You haven't sent me measurements. I'm looking for the measurements on the gauntlets, unless they fit you really well and you want to trace and scan a picture of your hand.

Re: Opinions needed on Age of Craft and Sharukhan market

I would love to, but Grettr's stuff is so far out of my price range it's not even worth looking at. I can probably swing $400 tops. I'm about 2 years away from being geared for ACL in a best case scenario, so if what I buy gets me back on the SCA field, that's worth it for me.

Opinions needed on Age of Craft and Sharukhan market

An accident on Tuesday convinced me that it is time to retire my old leather gauntlets. I've seen Age of Craft and Sharukhan Market mentioned on Facebook and ACL/BotN discussions quite frequently. I was wondering if anyone had dealt with them or seen their work in person. Specifically, I'm looking f...

Re: Are there any buckler fighting guides about for SCA heav

I think I.33 is not a great place to start for heavy fighting. I.33 is very focused on protecting the sword hand, which is not an issue in SCA heavy. For heavy, you don't need to worry about keeping your weapon hand covered, so that opens up two independent avenues for defense. Paradoxes of defense ...

Re: Battle of Nations event on the East Coast (NJ) 13-14 Apr

I was at this event, I fought late Saturday and I wanted to thank the guys who loaned me the gear and weapons I needed to give ACL a shot. I had a great time, and I hope that I can get the money together to do the kit upgrades I'd need to pursue this sport. It really was a dream come true to fight f...

Re: Opinions on Arm Street armour

I ordered their etched splinted arms and greaves (with elbows and knees) and am overall very happy with them. They are comfortable, look great, and protective. My one complaint is the leather used for the strapping is to soft and I am breaking them pretty quick. Based upon the quality of the gear I...

I was thinking about ordering a rapier from Alchem Armoury, but about a month ago I saw some negative posts here about their customer service. Looking for maile scraps

Hi all. I'm looking for scraps of riveted maile. The size and shape of the rings aren't particularly important. I need it for an experiment, so it needs to be big enough to shoot arrows at from close range.

Re: Can one fence SCA rapier in a historical style?

I can't speak to excessive force, because I fence with people who have their Big Boy and Girl pants on when they suit up and recognize they're playing a martial sport which involves getting hit with a freakin' sword (it's in Central New Jersey; you talkin' ta me?); I regularly go home with bruises....

Re: Future of SCA fighting

Many would rather handle real steel, which rapier offers (we haven't had "wires" in years). It seems REAL to them. I actually heard it worded that way,..."The stick fighters are cool, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't say medieval to me. That fencing stuff, though, that looks real. Where do you ...

Any word on whether they will be legal for Pennsic? I'm contemplating doing the conversion tomorrow at SRWC, but I want to make sure they'll be usable outside of the east.
