Just Back from Winter War (Northern Outpos, East)
Just got back from this event, having a scotch to relax a very tired body. I wanted to thank Olaf Haraldson for organising a GREAT event! Tons of fun, relax atmosphere, fun battles. Just a hoot of an event. My first fighting event in 5 years and it was great. Funnily it was the Canadians against the...

What size for a center grip oval?
I want to build a center grip oval out of plywood and I was wondering what is a common size or how to size it.

Well I won't be at Winter War it seems. I got elbowed in the face playing soccer. Nothing broken but a very sore jaw and I couple of very painful cuts on the tongue. I can barely speak because of the swelling, so I'm taking it easy. Have fun! BTW I've been hurt more often playing soccer than fighti...

Typically a tourney tactics. THat's what I was taught also. In melee like Nissan has pointed out if you are armed (sword arm I mean) you are more useful with your shield up, protecting the spearman behind you than if you go charging on your own trying to get a kill but breaking the coherence of the ...

Has anyone tried this foam shape offered by Mandrake? If so what was your experience, how did you mount it?

I've been wondering myself how come the Wombat's site had a banner on the AA. We should at the very least have a warning of some kind. While I agree with the AA respecting it's engagement (and I don't know what they are) and that anybody looking to buy armour should do their research first; I think ...

Another sizing question...(Sort of)
I'm of medium build 5.11 175lbs, but I really like the "Jump in your shorts" type of fighting as InsaneIrish would put it However I find that going toe-toe with bulkier fighters I get pushed back a lot. So do you think body type/size has alot of influence on the type of fighting you do or is it more...

How long is yours...
Your sword of course! What were you thiniking? Seriously we had this discussion the other day at fighter practice, and I thought it could make a good discussion. Some were saying that it's better to have a long sword for range fighting and make do with it at close range, others thought that a shorte...

Basket hilt vs Cup hilt
Is it just a question of look? What do you think? I personnaly like a well done basket hilt a lot! I have seen some with some very nice shape.
BROADWAY EDIT: I added the poll... seemed appropriate.

Like the title says. I need it fairly quickly, within a week if possible, so it would have to be in stock preferably.

Product Review- Hrogn shield boss
This is a review of the shield bosses sold by Hrogn as advertised here on the AA. E-mailed were answered quickly within the same day, sometimes minutes after I sent th...

Balancing a sword
Okay I built my first sword without a basket hilt, it has a butt ugly garden hose hilt until I get the funds to get a proper hilt and pommel. In the meanwhile what have you used to bring the balance back from the tip of the blade to closer to the hilt. I'm thinking hockey puck pommel or something li...

WMA Mild steel Sugarloaf with brass cross for trade
I've got a WMA Sugarloaf in mild steel with the decorative brass cross that I would be willing to trade for a Norse like or Salt Shaker type helm SCA legal helm. Salt Shaker preferably. I don't have the exact measurements but will put them up tonight. It's been fought in 3 times doesn't have padding...
