yeah its a really interesting piece to see something like that. il see what type my friend is looking for. im pretty sure its the basic steel bonnet type so i have a good idea now how it will be made.

yeah thats the plan i will have to go there for my 16 and 18 gauge i found some scrap 14 so gonna make a spang next. im sure i will come across some in dublin the one i found is close to where my girlfriend lives so is handy.
so back to coloured armour is it possible to colour it with heat?

the medieval community here is small very small i got in contact with pretty much everyone involved and the sca community im the only reenactor trying this and one of few sca folk. i sourced about half a sheet for €64 so not too bad.

thanks for such helpful words :x in case none of you have realised i have already been on to all the above mentioned places even worked in arklow marine. most supply thick steel suitable for boat hulls etc the others dont do small orders and the others dont do plain mild sheet of the needed thicknes...

yeah im thinking that might be the way to go. saw an amazing deal on a local swap site anvil forge tongs fan and other goodies for €1 but was sold. so altered hammers might be the best idea? i would still like to try get one good raising hammer though.
