Element Differences between Nobles and Commoners
Good Afternoon, I found this article interesting. https://heritagesciencejournal.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s40494-020-00407-x Abstract Individuals buried in two 17th–18th Century private chapels, each attached to a Franciscan Friary—one in Italy the other in Denmark—have been studied and sam...

Wow! That's a beautiful suit and I like the backdrop in the photography too. I don't play in the SCA anymore or fight in armour, but you tempted my lizard brain who still thinks I'm 20-something instead of over 50. Thanks!

Re: I have joined the elite Nauticalmart crowd.
I like how it's listed under cycling. Well, with drivers around here I think a highly reflective suit of stainless, surgical steel that is hardened might be a good plan sometimes when I'm bicycling. However, it would make me a bit slow pedaling uphill I think. Maybe I can play the theme music to Ex...

Re: Nauticalmart / anyone else bugged out ?
Scammers likely copy only the very best armouring projects that are photographed in the best ways. My armouring projects were fun but no scammer will ever copy a photo of my work and claim it is their own. It is a microscopic and sick sliver lining to the mushroom cloud of unethical scamming that is...

Re: How would you run a jailbreak scenario in SCA Heavy Comb
It could be amusing to build a "prisoner" out of water balloons, and then the jail-breakers outnumber the guards 3-to-1, but the jail-breakers have to get the "prisoner" out of the jail without hurting him. Of course, because the "prisoner" is being held for ransom, the guards can't kill the "prison...

Re: Armouring As A Career
You did well for 20 years though. That's good. I figured out based on my armouring skills that I wouldn't last 20 minutes. I'd have to sell my products for less than the cost of the raw materials. Armouring seems to be inspired artistic madness, and I like watching it. But I could never join the mad...

Re: Armouring As A Career
Aaron, I built and sold stuff to supplement my income to buy toys or to pay the bills when I was between jobs. My wife had Medical benefits so that was not an issue. I would never do this as a permanent, sole form of income. It was easier back 20, 25 years ago before production became world wide an...

Wear on their minds. Not even something I've considered.... You are thinking in multiple ways at the same time. You are converting a 2D metal sheet into 3D useful art based upon the client's vague descriptions of their daydreams. You have to budget in your health, time, equipment, etc... I think it...

Hi, It has been a while. My business was Rough from the Hammer which made armour parts. I sold the business to Cet (David Rylak) in 2002. The finished armour I made was mostly sold through Ice Falcon. Did you make a living wage being an armourer? Living wage in this case is defined as living over t...

Wait until you are 21. - Scott When I went to Pennsic, it was almost rated G. I just fought, showered, ate, juggled and slept. Pennsic is what a person makes of it. Some have a XXX Pennsic, and some like me have a Pennsic that is more in line with a Scooby Doo episode. At Pennsic you will st...

Maybe we could see a real artifact next to the fake? There are two problems there... --The first is that the fake in question does not seem to be based on just one original, but is rather a mashup of two or more. --The second is getting images of all of the objects from the same angles. We can only...

Maybe we could see a real artifact next to the fake? Oh I agree Mac i...

Let's begin by looking at the helmet, and then move on to the bevor. For convenience I will refer to our subject as "lot 174" or just "174" because that is number it had at its most recent auction. It is also Goll 1899, and had formerly been on exhibit at the Higgins Museum, where it was described ...

How about the gold trimmed sallet with bevor? I would have been fooled by that one and it is even in an area I have enjoyed studying. It looks usable and I have seen things like it in Osprey paintings. Is this the one you mean? https://i.pinimg.com/564x/15/10/da/1510da66d7257013b5396d879682389f.jpg...

Paying for insured and tracked shipping, and maybe tipping the armourer $20 for the bad review and pain might be a good step to get the helm after these multiple customer generated shipping errors.

I miss it too. But I love my wife, kids and brain more. Besides, if I had the money to fight, I could just fund a young, healthy Armoured Combat League fighter and have the tonlet armor of the Chamberlain of Burgundy made for him in spring stainless. http://burgundianhours.blogspot.com/2009/08/chamb...
