Paul,you also could look into a couple of magazines-Traditional Bowhunter or Primitive Archer. Turkish, mongol bows are made of wood and horn wrapped in sinew and glued with hide glue.These are the most difficult bows to make,sometimes taking up to a year to complete.They are highly reflexed bows.Yo...

jgalak,Your bow is almost finished.We've had very wet weather here and in order to keep moisture down,I have to keep putting my developing bows back in the oven.The good news is that school is almost out (2 days left,I teach)and I'll have more time in the shop.-Russ

Just curious to see what types of bows people here are shooting.For combat?for targets?Self bows,laminated recurve or longbows,crossbows?Poundage?Anybody hunt?

combat archery

My question is this,How efective is combat archery in todays SCA battlefield.I'm new and i've yet to see my fisrt battle or war.Do archers volley arrows in unison or is it everyone for themselves?

Thanks for all the replies.I guess my problem is a common one,Most armourers have a waiting list of 4 to 24 months.Truehearh is 9 months.I need something for $100 or less.I am going to go ahead and try to make my own.What type of rivits should I use?-Thanks again
