Re: How long should Cuises when used with floating knees?

I'd love to! All it would take would be an extra day or two squeezed into the week.

Re: How long should Cuises when used with floating knees?

The carbide bur was not fast but it did work and now I have my legs together. Now I need to remake the pourpont.

Re: How long should Cuises when used with floating knees?

According to the tags, these were made by Armor Workshop Dobrynya from hardened 30HGSA. I have never worked with heating metal before. All I have in the house for heating is one of those propane plumbers torches. Is that likely to be sufficient? Fortunately the pieces cut off have lots of room to pr...

Re: How long should Cuises when used with floating knees?

Actually, yes. Here's what I ended up doing. These photos are linked from Imgur: https://imgur.com/a/eCa3k49 First I basically made a cast of one with paper packing tape, using it like paper mache. https://i.imgur.com/FZbgtk7.jpg Here it is with the original holes marked for the knees and you can se...

How long should Cuises when used with floating knees?

I'm the proud owner of some new cuises and floating knees that are very lovely except for one tiny flaw. The cuises are too long. They currently come below my kneecap and interfere with my movement. I'm going to need to move the attachment points for the knees and shorten them and I was wondering if...

Re: Breeches after 1500

I've always thought it didn't make sense that for centuries before and after men wore under breeches but for some reason there was a gap where they did not. Today I watched a video from Mathew Gnagy where he mentions a pair in the Rijksmuseum. Apparently cut like venetians. https://www.youtube.com/w...

Hi Carter, I'm just a random lurker but I was wondering if there is there a reason you are making the line from the point at the front of the visor (nose?) down to the neck so flat?
The originals you include photos of have a larger bulge where one's chin would go.

Re: If you were building a castle!

I'd probably build something like this Rabbet Warrener's Lodge: "Situated on the edge of huge Thetford forest, it was originally built around 1400 as a defensible hunting lodge to protect gamekeepers and hunting parties from poachers. It was later lived in by the ‘warreners’ and their families, who ...

I was trying to figure out how the porpoint was supporting the hose when I wasn't seeing any lacing holes on the outside. Thanks for the clarification.

Ok. and by doublet, you are referring to something worn under the pourpoint and not the pourpoint itself, right?

Re: Second Hand Armor for SCA/IMCF/HMB/ACL and re-enactors.

If I'm browsing for armour and I see a gorget for an unusually high price, my first thought is "I think this is over priced, I will look elsewhere" not "I wonder if that's a real price, I better ask what they are actually going to sell for".
