I will second the desire for a black one, with thinner padding. I want something that fits a bit tighter and a little thinner to go under all the other armor I am already wearing.

The brigandine that I think you are thinking of was a development later in period and more of civilian armor - it might stop a weapon if you were assaulted on the street or dueling.
