Re: Fantasy helm help wanted.
I have a few fake Garnets that look pretty real. I'd be glad to send you a few to use if you'd like.

Can you give us some of the specifics of your interpretation of the outfit? How did you make the helm, How did you choose colors for the suit, etc...? Are there pics to go with the research you found of archeological findings, or at least some art of these items? I really would like to know more. At...

Being a boffer group, I am actually going with a Warhammer Empire look, but Landeschect is pretty close so I posted here. I did try some pants and the how to page for the outfit is here: http://www.drandmir.org/howto/puffandslash.pdf That is for the shirt and pants. I didn't like how the pants came ...

So I am with a boffer group, not SCA, so I am working on the base soft kit first, then we'll get to some armour. Here is my starting place. The next bits in no particular order are better pants, a pizza hat, and a katzbalger. I t...

Here is the end for now. First a close up of the ribbons keeping the sleeves from wandering off by themselves. You can see where I gave a small stitch to keep them where I want them, ...

Armour will defiantly take longer than the outfit, but plans are in the works. Here is the beginning of the right leg. I am taking strips of puffs like I did on the back of the doublet and they will get sewn to the leg and wrap around it. Here are the strips laid out. [img]http://drandmir.org/photo_...

Here is the complete doublet minus buttons and some extra ribbon. So, now I move on to the legs. They will go to just below the knee. Below the legs I picked up some soccer socks in different colo...

Now that I have some more fabric...(btw, never enter a JoAnn's during their Grand Opening. I thought I'd never make it out.) I finished cutting out the over slashings. Really I just cut two long strips, sewed the long edges and turned it inside out. Then ironed it flat. Once I had them made here is ...

Thanks Eirikr. Truthfully I have done it in other less 'busy' varieties, and I have been thinking it through for about a month before I started. I just figured even though this is a deviation to this sort of outfit, perhaps some pics to my version could help someone out. Besides, with as much as I G...

Got some more done. So far the left back. For the left side I am going with blue with yellow puffs. Since it's not striped the front will be a bit different, but I choose to go the same way on the back. http://drandmir.org/photo_archive/Puffandslash/puffslash%20project-left%20back%20started.JPG http...

More added. Here are stripes 3 and 4 and then the finished side panel. No puffs there, but it will be on my side and under my arm. I don't think puffs are needed. http://drandmir.org/photo_archive/Puffandslash/puffslash%20project-3%20stripes%20done.JPG http://drandmir.org/photo_archive/Puffandslash/...

Fixed some pics! k, Here is the original doublet that really did fit at one point. I like the length and how the arms fit, so I used it as a basis. http://drandmir.org/photo_archive/Puffandslash/puffslash%20project-original%20dublet.JPG So I made the lining first and gave it a square neckline. It wi...

Puff and Slash Garb
So, I have the week off and I am working on a new puff and slash outfit. While the design is more aimed at a warhammer Empire outfit, it is along the lines of a Landsknecht, so I am posting here as it may be of interest. I started on some and uploaded some pics, but I did something screwy, so I have...

steel in austin, tx
Hey central Tx folks! It's been a while since I picked up some steel, but I am looking to again in the near future. I had been using Trident, but they said 1 sheet is not a big enough order to process. I think that's crazy, as they don't have to do much but pick up a sheet and give it to me. I am lo...
