I found my measuring tape and double checked the measurement for my dome and the helmet. My head is only 23" and the helm, when padded, fits pretty close, so I'd say it's about 25" inside without padding.

Update/Responses

Thanks for all the interest! To update: the arms and legs have been spoken for. I've also found my gorget, which is for a smallish neck (around 17 1/2" - 18"). It was made by Regulus & is his lobster-tail dog-collar style (I think it's in that pic of me). To reply to all questions: I'd like around $...

Used armor for sale!

I'm looking to swap heavy fighting for Airsoft as my primary combat hobby. To that end, I'm selling off all the armor I can. I've got a Crusader-style greathelm, a full breast-and-back, and a pair of Andy Ward gauntlets. They've all been used on the field, so they've got dings and scrapes. I've got ...

The last batch of mead I did was fairly well received. I used about 5 gallons of water and 15 pounds of honey. I added two or three lemons (juice & rind) to the must after the boiling process, plus a touch of ginger. I left it to ferment for four or five months, using Red Star champagne yeast. The r...

Bascinet hinges

I'm looking for center-mount bascinet hinges, like the one in Techniques of Medieval Armor Reproduction. I recall that someone around here usually had them available, but I don't remember exactly who.

Cheers,

Christian

I use a small heater, too. I've used large heaters, war-doors, and bucklers. In the end, the small heater is the most versatile. I can punch-block; my arms are long enough that I can block leg-shots just by dropping the lower point; and it does a marvelous job of covering those vulnerable areas from...

I don't think I've whacked any of my comrades yet, but I've got a tragic tale of friedly fire - At a Wargy a couple years back, I was fighting along happily during a long res battle. I haven't got my books with me and my memory is spotty but I think the way to blazon those is by describing the black and red crosses to be charged on a white cross. Looking at that thing I'd have to say I'd rather pay a good ol' American armourer to build me a bascinet that looks like a bascinet. That helm looked sort of like a steel conehead prop.

The only Kingdom-level wars I've been to were West-Caid affairs a couple years back. You might try adjusting your chinstrap so it pulls the helmet against your head differently. I had to drill two sets of holes in my helm for the chinstrap before I had the placement right. It's a pain in the ass, but you'll end up with a more comfortable ride from your helm. ------------------ Long ...

I like the West Kingdom's DFB rule well enough. It lets commanders in a battle gain some benefit from aggressive maneuvering. And it makes all us line animals pay more attention to our surroundings.
