You're evil...
Trying to earn bonus points using a child as a model, for shame (on me, for not thinking of it first.) Very nice... I like the purple, it goes well with the dark colouration of the metal. The occulars, nasal, and "beard" all look effing (no offense to effingham) brilliant! I'm interested in a final ...

Excellent, I am now armed with more information than I know what to do with :) (I'll save the extra info for all those mysterious left over pieces) I'll definitely have an easier time of it now, so thanks to everyone who posted, or answered my noob questions through PM (like sasuke) Though I am stil...

yeah, I just realized after reading the above post that just because it is two lines of rivets doesn't mean both sides aren't independently articulated... Silly me
Pics would be appreciated, irregardless of whether I am done or not
I'm always willing to learn new ways to do old things.

As an aside, my customer wanted me to just go to Tandy and get everything there, so I could start working on it right away. The offer was if he pays for mats, I make it. (for this piece, at least.) being broke and wanting to armour does crazy things to your willpower (here's what I said after the la...

Churburg questions galore.
"The usual faux pas with these BPs are, with the seg, making the center plate overly wide" Wow, I NEVER see that!!!!! I always see recreations where they use too narrow of a center plate and only one row of rivets. I've had people ask me to make them BP's that way, I won't do it. VvS So, the center...

Awesome
I think I'll play around with the AW breastplate, and between that and the pics I have at my disposal, I'll do just fine.
Time to hit RJ, WBC, and Tandy.
Thanks again all, progress pics soon...

My two cents...
Heh... this was the first article I read on the AA, huzzah for jumping headfirst into the rock-filled deep end, lol. I made some small "tasset like objects" out of leather in this pattern... If you look at the pic above, with the cardboard layout, that's how I lined mine up, with the scales just a l...

What's a bloomin' bloomery?
I'd love to comment on that, but I am afraid I don't know what a bloomery is... I can guess from context, but I'd like to be sure (curiosity killed the Gid'n) I am still unable to find a pattern, but I should be able to rough a few ideas out on paper, go to card from there, and make it work. This su...

Thanks
That's the style... thanks for the info and pics, they will help greatly... (help me not sound like a jackass, that is) I am a little confused, having seen a lot of examples (of modern day pieces) with the center plate much narrower... Is that another type/number entirely, or just a modern day plate...

Looking for a pattern and a spelling :)
Churnburg, chern... chur...chewhatsit... That's impressive work, and I'd definitely agree that the more people make beginner suits for japanese personas the better. 3/32 might be a little thin... but it could always be padded out to the tastes of the wearer. I have done this on a few pieces of leather I've made, and all of the boffer weapons. (underneath the butt end) I have only had to check the number once, and the weapon was in fact stolen. Upper arm patterns
All of the patterns I have been able to find have an open rerebrace (sp?) I would like an enclosed one, but I am not sure how the "enclosure" connects after it wraps over the bicep. Does it even close, or is it left open? If possible, I would appreciate a visual. The last set of arms I had were spli...

Japanese maille patterns
I am interested in trying non-european maille patterns, but I have a few questions. 1)Did the japanese use riveted or butted maille, or both? If both, did they use a different weave for each, or the same one for both? 2)I have a vague recollection of "persian" weaves, where can I find these? 3)Does ...
