You're evil...

Trying to earn bonus points using a child as a model, for shame (on me, for not thinking of it first.) Very nice... I like the purple, it goes well with the dark colouration of the metal. The occulars, nasal, and "beard" all look effing (no offense to effingham) brilliant! I'm interested in a final ...

yeah, I just realized after reading the above post that just because it is two lines of rivets doesn't mean both sides aren't independently articulated... Silly me :)

Pics would be appreciated, irregardless of whether I am done or not :)

Churburg questions galore.

"The usual faux pas with these BPs are, with the seg, making the center plate overly wide" Wow, I NEVER see that!!!!! I always see recreations where they use too narrow of a center plate and only one row of rivets. I've had people ask me to make them BP's that way, I won't do it. VvS So, the center...

I think I'll play around with the AW breastplate, and between that and the pics I have at my disposal, I'll do just fine.

Time to hit RJ, WBC, and Tandy.

Heh... this was the first article I read on the AA, huzzah for jumping headfirst into the rock-filled deep end, lol. I made some small "tasset like objects" out of leather in this pattern... I'd love to comment on that, but I am afraid I don't know what a bloomery is... I can guess from context, but I'd like to be sure (curiosity killed the Gid'n) I am still unable to find a pattern, but I should be able to rough a few ideas out on paper, go to card from there, and make it work. All of the patterns I have been able to find have an open rerebrace (sp?) I would like an enclosed one, but I am not sure how the "enclosure" connects after it wraps over the bicep. Does it even close, or is it left open? If possible, I would appreciate a visual. The last set of arms I had were spli...

Thanks, I was wondering about the japanese weave, since I'd never seen a "full shirt" of it.... their pattern probably has something to do with the limited effectiveness of thrusting attacks against japanese armour, and the focus that japanese sword techniques place on cutting rather than poking.

Japanese maille patterns

I am interested in trying non-european maille patterns, but I have a few questions. 1)Did the japanese use riveted or butted maille, or both? If both, did they use a different weave for each, or the same one for both? 2)I have a vague recollection of "persian" weaves, where can I find these? 3)Does ...
