Hjalmr is indeed the vendor. I just got a call from the friend in question. He informed me that after following Dilan's advice to request a tracking number that he did indeed receive one and that the tracking website shows that the item left Hjalmr's location as of today. I will also state that I di...

I'm not curently a vendor, and am interested in hearing what the actual ones here have to say, but I think you have unintentionally slighted all the good vendors with the one you/your friend have issue(s) with. For, I read your post, and am now naturally curious and wondering: who is stiffing this ...

Can the vendor supply you with a tracking number or a scan of the postage receipt? Considering the unreasonable response to reasonable inquiries from the customer I hardly doubt that the vendor would acquiesce to supplying any form of tracking number. It may also be possible to take action through ...

Regardless the back and forth before hand the only dates you need to be concerned about is from the day the check cleared. Otherwise the vendor hasn’t' got the money and no matter how long they sat on it the cheque they don't know if it is worth the paper is written on. (I am sure your friend is ...

Needing Advice Regarding a Deal
I am at a dilemma point here and need a little advice. I suggested that a friend purchase an item from a person here on the classifieds that seemed to have a good reputation. To illustrate the problem, here is the time line: Jan 22: Friend initiated contact to ask if the item in question was still a...

New Spalders
These are the first armour I've completed in years. Sure they're nothing special, but it just feels good to show myself that I can still do something.
What do you all think of them?

I'd like to know some about it, I've read a few of the articles on here, like http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38736 My question though which is actually safer; playing with acid or a car battery... That's funny! In the thread you linked, the part that Ivo posted " The followi...

ABS Corazina Kits
I know I saw a vendor that offered pre-molded ABS components for corazinas. At the time, I disregarded them because I was a purist who believed in wearing only period materials. Well now I've grown older, weaker and generally more decrepit and the idea of lighter armour that still looks right has be...

with salt added until it won't dissolve anymore In my early experiments with this process I found that if you go overboard with the salt, you end up reducing the efficiency. I've found the best results with about 3 tablespoons of salt per quart of water. I'm not sure why this is, but I surmise that...

I have heard that acrylic paint, shellac, and Sharpies can be used as the resist for the etching, is this true? I was the guy that originally brought this process to the board several years ago. Anything that creates an electrical insulator will work. That means that while you can use sharpies as a...

So do you suppose that the brigandine portion is separate from the steel upper breast? If so, is it sort of like a brigandine cummerbund or does the thing that looks like leather rivetted to the top edge go up over the shoulders to keep the brig. from sliding down. -OR-, am I misinterpreting the ima...

Honestly, I think that's a rather interesting piece. It appears to be a breast plate that's been cut away from the abdomen to allow more flexibility. The abdomen appears to be covered by a velvet covered brigandine, and if you look closely, it appears that the brigandine has a leather top edge (it's...
