First question would be what skills do you bring to the table? Some ren faire merchants do fairly basic arts and crafts, some do serious work - what can you do that someone would want to pay money for?
Until you are brining in money this isn't really a plan as much as a fantasy

Just as an add on - I ordered several belt fittings from Tod's Stuff, once the royal mail, and USPS managed to get them to me I was absolutely thrilled with the quality of his work. I would recommend him strongly.

For whatever it's worth, i have done a few scabbards, i generally rip the board lengthwise, i do the chiselwork on what had been the exterior of the wood. When i glue it up the wood will have a tendancy to work against warping

If modern helmet makers all had the same idea about head shape and made their helmets all reflect that standard, then one could make a reasonable choice based on circumference. That is, or course provided of course that both helmet maker and customer had similar ideas about where to take that measu...

If people won't buy it at the price you need to charge, don't make it. This seems to be the hardest lesson to learn. Decent mechanics gloves can make the difference between my harnds are cold, and I can't feel what I'm working on - you won't be warm, but you will be able to work. A pair of nitrile painters gloves under the work gloves will work as an air barrier.

I would like to find some low-cut 14th century shoes or boots that will hold up well to battlefield-stomping without interfering with my cased greaves.
