Re: Preventing aluminum Shields from bending or warping

My kite is 7075 T-6. It was a PITA to put a curve in with a roller. It's very hard to bend, even when it was just a blank. It's faced in 4oz leather, backed in linen, edged in rawhide over door edging with leather arm and hand straps. It often gets confused for a wooden shield due to the look and ho...

What he said. Mine is 18" total length. Also worn at the back. Practice drawing it. Dagger fights quick draw can be good practice for the "under duress". Also practice drawing so it is one smooth action. I just have to reach down and back along my belt line, the handle is right there. Worn in back i...

Good to see you are still with us. Apart from the monoxide detector, you might want to add a baffled vent with a fan that turns on with the lights.

I've seen depictions with and without belts. Never seen anyone on the SCA wear mail without a belt. Much less a sword slit.

Re: Deburring tumbler

When I made my Ti lamellar, I made my own tumble to deburr the plates. I bough blank empty paint cans from the local hardware store and play sand. Some wood for a frame, old pieces of copper pipe covered in old pieces of garden hose, electric motor of an old old table saw, and made form wooden pulle...

Compression shorts, then another pair of compression shorts with a cup pocket. Use a Nutty Buddy. The cup pocket has the slit cut in the bottom for the tail of the Nutty Buddy. Stays in place, works great.

Re: Looking for advice re: dissatisfied customer.

I already said your policy is quite clear on your website. That said, does the perceived flaw inhibit the function of the helm visor in any way or does it negatively effect the safety of the wearer or the durability of the helm? It doesn't seem so from the photos you posted. I hope PayPal doesn't sc...

Just to cover all your based, aka dense customers, you may want to give examples. Such as drilling, hammering, welding, grinding, altering finish (painting, sand...

Re: Water-Hardening Leather Via Pour-on?

It's going to have to be soaked. You want to transform the interior fibers, not just the skin. Which is what a pour would do. Do you have access to a roaster pan? You could soak in room temp water in say the bathroom tube over night or at least a few hours, then attach to a form then bake till dry. ...
