I had Eric weld the face together but it does not come close to fitting in the upper part.

So, I heated Mild sheet steel to less than red and dipped it.. It came out nice and brown.
I heated SS rings to red and they darkend rather well..

It was built and used specifically for Hastings 2000..
As for historically accurate, nope, but it was not meant to be.
It was built for rebated weapons at Hastings 2000 and for SCA combat after.....
