Dresden has a good armor museum. Schloss Ambrass outside of Innsbruck has an excellent armour museum and art museum. Good gelato too.

Corinthian Style Helm for Sale.
Stainless Steel Corinthian steel helm by Alan Baldtree. Used, I'm the third owner. 8 1/2" side to side, 10" front to back. I have a 23 1/4 brow circumference and the helmet fit me with 1/2" padding. Very pretty helm, but I am taking my personna in another direction, so I want it to go to a good home...

I think the most quintessentially English is Silver, since he razzes on "foreign teachers" like Saviolo and DiGrassi. Unfortunately, not many English manuals have survived. There are some earlier sources such as the Harleian and Cottonian Titus that are from the 15th century and deal with longsword....

I wonder if it's more that he claimed the arrows were better than the Archery Tag arrows and that he was buying up "archery tag" advertising? Does seem like very patent trollish behavior on the Archery Tag folks side though.

Re: Spear and Shield Combat Interest
I think spear and shield in SCA single combat suffers from limitations of our ruleset. We can't use the haft to strike our opponents, which wouldn't severely injure someone, but would check their blow or displace their weapon/shield for the killing strike with the weapon head. We also can't strike b...

I use an old softball team bag. It's a giant blue cordura duffle bag that holds all my armour, plus has room for spare gear. If I am going someplace where I have to schlep my armour a long distance, I'll transfer it to one of my old Air Force duffles because I can wear it like a backpack. But I am l...

Re: Blog post about me making a parrying spear.
I guess you could say that. I wanted to make a live steel version of what I fight with in the SCA. Looking at pictures of extant examples, I'd say the spear point, hand guard and pommel were forge welded to the haft. I don't know if the hafts are solid or tubular, there's very little written up on t...

There is a knight that I've fought a couple times that has a sugarloaf style helm with a spring locking pin to hold the faceplate. Each time we've fought, I've nailed the pin and the faceplate has popped open at least once in the set. The pin is just in the spot where my offside head shot hits. Frea...
