Re: Dagger Rondel with No Peen

Any idea how you would avoid scorching the wood on the handle when you brazed the discs together? Maybe wrap it in wet rags? Toby might be able to have the dagger X-rayed. I like the idea that the brass appliques are hiding something. If the disc is brazed together after peening the lower plate to ...

Re: Cleaning Mail

Take notice that a cement mixer can generate damages in the mail when it is only butted mail.
Another method is to brush the mail with a soft wirebrush several times from both sides. this is also possible to do in a larger bucket with soapwater. Fore shure you must dry and oil it directly after this.

I wonder how thin the lower breastplate must be, when it should be hardened carbon-steel, and then dents so easy from a handheld weapon. Alternitive i wonder how scary careless the hit must be done.

@Mac: to come back to the pauldron size and the belonging suits. Have you noticed that both left pauldrons have nearly the same size ? Ich thought about that and took a caliper to make a quick check up on the photo where both suits are standing nearby. With a bigger picture it would be more exactly....

I have seen with my own eyes that the inside of the Avant armor is a more or less uniform blue-grey color. Re: Rene's blog

The finish is looking very nice. My question would be how well it is holding up, because if I hold a test piece with the entire colour spectrum on a polishing wheel, this grey area is loosing its oxide layer first even before the thinner iridescent layers. This said I had some incident in the harde...

That is a nice color you made. The oil is making a bit of a difference. It is also very important to get no fingerprints on ist before heating and after it cools down, so covering in oil is needed. It is also a very big difference what kind of light you have around. In my workshop it is always a dif...

The Breast- and Backplate became a couple of trimming cutts and then i roughly formed and attached the shoulderbars and the hinged sideplates. That holds everything in place now, so i can start with the helmet and finish the shaping of the pauldrons. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/c5/f4/a0/c5f4a0b1d85228...
