Re: Hardening 4130
I find a long soak at high temp to be unnecessary for armour thicknesses, and they'll build up more forge scale if you hold them up there. It's hard to measure how much carbon the plates may be losing, but they certainly lose some mass. The scale tends to be thinner than rolling paper, but when you...

Re: Harbor Freight Plasmas Cutter?
I have a HF plasma cutter. After about 1 week the attached regulator broke as you would expect from a HF product. I returned it and received another, on which the regulator broke. So I gave up and removed it. I use the regulator on my compressor to control the air. Aside from the regulator ...

One tool that fits all does none all to well. OK, so let me be clear. I have already ascertained that I have a fitted need for this tool provided that it works well within it's stated parameters. What I am attempting is not "should I buy a plasma cutter" but "How good of a plasma cutter is the harb...

I always punch a hole inside corners so I never overshoot. Have you used a plasma cutter before? Seems to me like it would be a lot like torch cutting, in that straight lines would be a really neat trick to pull off. Have you tried a jigsaw? What about a unishear? I'm only asking all these question...

No, but I do have their B1 knockoff which is currently on sale for $140. If you download and print their 20% off coupon, you can get it for $112. What are you doing with thin metals that you need a plasma cutter for? Being tired of cutting inside corners and being tired of pulling on a darn handle....

Re: Stimulants in Fighting Competition
I've never been a very good fighter. But it seems to me that our game, at least in Meridies, is less about power and more about stamina. You don't need a lot of power around here, because it's basically touch kill. Clean, unanswered blows serve as well as cleaving a guy in half. So you don't need h...

Re: I need to up my game
More or less this. Simply this. If you want to get better at fighting you have to fight . There is no substitute. Sure there are things to help you perform better and longer, but actually getting better at fighting won't happen unless you fight. You need to see the fight and unless that comes natur...

Gunther, last time I traveled with my shield (similar in size to yours) I just made a bag. Sewing a zipper on was irritating, but beyond that it wasn't too tough. 3 Peices I think: 2 pieces - the size and shape of your shield + 1" larger in all dimensions. 1 piece - about 4" wide and as long as the ...

Interesting. Ansteorra's OP deliberately recognizes Barons and Baronesses in Fief (http://heraldry.ansteorra.org/OP/Order_of_March.rtf) but they are below the royal family. and I agree, it should be (or at least it would be in Ansteorra) : Duke Ragnar Blackhammer, Baron of Dun Carraig, KSCA And, Con...

Not truly "solo", so I apologize if it's not an answer to your question, but the 50 shot drill is a good one that an un-armored non-combatant can do with you, while you are in full armor. You will have to tune your defense down to "Fully Defensive", but the basic premise is that the opponent stands ...

demi's are not required. If your vambrace and cup hilt cover the requires areas (back of the hand, etc) then you do not need a demi. St. G.
