To my knowledge he still has it. I will send him a message on FB. Construction is 14ga. mild on the top, 16ga. mild for the back plate and menpo. The shikoro ( back drape ) and tare (throat guard) are 4130 heat treated either .035 or .040 (I don't remember which, I *think* .040).

"Yoroi no Kozan-do".
Matsushita Sensei is one of my teachers (and Eff's). For non-combat armour the best you will get without ordering *high-end* reproduction.

Title says it hive mind. What's the consensus on these 4 rivets? I could see the bottom pair as articulation *or* mounts center plate to sides. My search-fu has become weak (actually I think our database has become too big :) ), but I am searching for images in the stated time frame. Japanese visitors to the courts of Europe (and visiting the Pope) can be documented in period. As visitors, no more jarring than a 9th century northman visiting a 16th century Italian villa.

Have them strip the paint and send it back. Refund them and blacklist them. If they fell on hard times (it happens) *they* need to sell it, not try for a refund. Sell the helmet to someone else with full disclosure.
Buyer's remorse is why I do not and never have take credit cards or paypal.

Entirely possible the knight in question was *mildly* rude because he was put out of sorts. He may have expected a positive answer and was taken aback when he got a negative. To many outside of the relationship between the knight and his man, that belt is a banner to other knights. It reads "I aspir...

Thanks for posting this. Last time I bought from OnlineMetals (November), I paid $4.41 lb for .032 plus shipping. The others are close enough I may give them a shot next time I order.

No not with me.
As people are often asking about apprenticeships there is this: http://www.metalmuseum.org/artistprograms.html
Not armouring but many of the skills *will* carry over especially if you spend some time with the whitesmiths there as well.

I can't help him with that budget. What I *suggest* is a conversion until he's ready for the real deal. An ironmonger norman, pull the nasal, add a mabizaeshi and shikoro and you have a decent starter.
