Re: Female Chest Protection
How often do people really get hit in the chest, like on boobage? The only time I can think of that happening to me is thrusts from spears. Mileage is going to depend on fighting style, but by my experience, rarely. Most of my chest hits have been tip, or incidental to an armpit shot, I am am going...

Re: Female Chest Protection
Next to none, actually.
Seriously - I have hidden crash pad gate pants, soccer shin guards and Stonekeep knee cops under those baggy Rus-style pants.
(edited to correct - SOCCER shin guards, not hockey)
Bri.

Re: Female Chest Protection
I personally don't like lamelar, but that's due to a bad experience with loaner gear pinching. But there's no reason additional protection should be needed underneath. Yeah - loaner gear is generally not one-size-fits-all, no matter how hard we try. My lamellar never pinches - of course, it also ha...

Re: Female Chest Protection
Okay - I am not particularly over-endowed, but I think a chest protector under the lamellar would be overkill. If she is more, um, graced in that department than myself, I would recommend perhaps a padded gambeson under the lamellar (I wear a simple linen tunic), but more is likely unnecessary bulk ...

Re: Pics that would inspire new guys. (UPDATE 8/31/2011)
Maybe something to inspire the ladies? Newest version of kit, now with hidden legs and period footwear. Not at 100%, but getting closer: http://images108.fotki.com/v360/photos/6/668789/3655280/MeatHarvest2011-vi.jpg I will be transitioning to a wooden shield (from metal) as well. I WAS going to remo...

Re: Fighting with a knee and/or ankle braces
I fight in a Bauerfeind Genutrain after I had to have my knee remodeling. I highly recommend the brace - moderately expensive, but has excellent support without overkill and without completely breaking the bank. Also have the advantage of being an knit fabric - NOT neoprene. Much less bulky and more...

We were lucky - our big tornadoes hit in areas that were much less populated. Vilonia was hardest hit, but it's a tiny town - nothing compared to Tuscaloosa.

Very true. I have seen GA assessments bordering on the bizarre.Seth of Newcastle wrote: Your Grace,

P.S. BTW, I believe your assessments to be sound and I have very recent info : )

I think Cona, Thomas, and Ulrich for three of the four final slots. Tossup for occupant of the fourth.
Mind you, this is based on rather outdated assessments, but I keep up from afar. I think it's still pretty sound.

Re: Footwear and knee braces
Yeah - my ortho told me that if I keep this up (heavy fighting) I will likely need a knee replacement by 55. Quit and I might make it to 65.
Guess I will just have to start saving the pennies for that replacement at 55.

Re: Footwear and knee braces
My knee problems are ACL/meniscus issues in both left and right, cartilage loss and some bone one bone in my left (need a knee replacement but surgeon wants me to wait until I'm in my 50's - about 8 years from now). So I want to make sure my knee cap doesn't roam where it shouldn't be while I'm con...

Re: Footwear and knee braces
Cleats sound like a great way to let you put a lot of torque on your ankles and knees to me. The only serious ankle injury I've ever gotten was from playing football in cleats. It might have happened in other shoes, so it's hard to tell. I fight in turn shoes or some approximation of them when I ca...

Re: Footwear and knee braces
The type of knee brace you would want to wear depends on what you want it for. What knee problems do you have? I have a compromised ACL (partial tear), and a badly damaged meniscus. I don't fight in a hinged brace - my ortho said it likely wasn't necessary since the cartilage damage was greater than...

I've interacted with you on a number of occasions, sometimes as queen, sometimes as princess, sometimes as "just Bri" and I've never gotten that impression. Maybe I'm a lot Leonard or something, and just speak your language, like a nerd protocol droid... I do okay one-on-one, but put me in a party ...

Re: Gulf Wars - Bad Experiences?
Good parts of Gulf Wars: 1. The "atmosphere." The hospitality was excellent! Folks were friendly & welcoming. Mord. We're glad. Meridies and Gleann Abhann, as hosts, have always felt responsible to be good stewards of the "Party" and Ansteorra and Trimaris have made this easy. As I am a stereotypic...

Re: Gulf Wars - Bad Experiences?
Fighting with Your Majesty and your knight Sir Edward in the rapier ravine was one of the highlights of MY war. The walking back and forth to the res point because of you wasn't... but it was fun while I was TRYING to kill y'all. Yes. I joked that every single one of my orders started with "Your Ma...

Re: Gulf Wars - Bad Experiences?
My only comment or request would be to HRM Radu. Could you maybe not be so tall next war? People do shrink with age. Given a couple decades or so, he might be down to normal ranges. I was sincerely sorry at their Majesties' of Northshields, ahem, premature dismounts. I was only lucky enough that I ...

1. In Crown, the Consort always has the Magic Bullet. All the consort has to do is withdraw him/herself from the tournament, and the fighter is done. I have never seen or heard of a woman doing this at a Crown, even when it would take a moron to not understand what was going on. Thank the good Lord...

Not all consorts would be willing to tell their fighter they felt they missed a blow. I have seen at least two consorts who chastised their fighter for loosing a Crown tournament AFTER the fighter had rhino'd severely. Certainly the public aspect affected their reputation as well. I have seen conso...
