Hey all, I do ebay searches for SCA related stuff when bored, and occasionally find some very interesting things. This suit is one such find. Has anyone ever seen anything like this in use on an SCA field or in a mundane setting? I know we have several policemen here on the AA. If this suit actuall...

I tie it off around the back. because of where the upper straps tie in, - the back strap is almost extraneo...

It can be. Depends on how it's done. Has anyone ever used a two point system for there chin strap like in the picture? I thought that it might work out really well. i have always used a multipoint system on my hats. the top strap is in the helm around about my ears and it goes under my chin. the ba...

if you can you find the spot that vibrates you might can kill it there. my old helm was a bell but by putting it on and hitting it and touching it in differnt places the sounds were lessened or unchanged till i found the harmonic point. it was a lone bar in the grill causing all the noise. wrapping ...

I think what he means by heat coming back up is how much radiant, and not so radiant, heat is going to make its way up to the torch/handle/hose? It really sucks to have a rubber hose full of pressurized fuel burst into flames and start blowing flames all over the place as it whips around. Yea but y...

i have never covered the back and dont know if it would do anything. i have on other shields NOT covered the front either. my last shield was 2 layers of canvas done in the same manner as the under layer as stated above. it holds up just fine. there were some chunks of wood that pulled off but that ...

Adric, do you have any pics of your shield? I'm not really understanding about all the small strips of canvas, as opposed to a sheet that just covers the sield face and wraps over the edges. yes there are 2 layers - small strips for the rounded areas and longer strips for the straight ones. then a ...

. . . gauge = number of pieces needed to make an inch IIRC?!? Afraid not. It's a popular notion, and maybe it was true at one time, but it isn't so nowadays, as a quick gander at this table will tell you. http://academic.evergreen.edu/projects/biophysics/technotes/fabric/sheet_metal.htm figures :ro...

Yeah, 1/8 ich thick? that is iway to thick, that is roughly 2 gauge, but sheet metal is'nt realy measured like that when it gets that thick. For a spangen you could do the whole project using 14 ga. Good luck and remember to post pics when your done! isnt that 8 ga?? gauge = number of pieces needed...
