Those are hardened 1050 steel as I remember. I wore them for ACL singles and SCA fighting for quite a while. GLWS

Re: WTB decorative brass rivets

I am pretty open to design. The ones I had were pyramid shaped. Also, kinda lazy and want something better than I can make myself for this project.

WTB decorative brass rivets

I am looking for some replacement rivets for the ones that I had on my hourglass gauntlets. I have finally had several knocked off so new ones are in order.

Suggestions?

WTB Pattern for Elbow/Knee Joint

I have been working on making articulated elbows and Knees, and while I am getting workable results I want to be more consistent with the articulation.

I am looking for a decent pattern I can use!

Thanks!

Dishing Forms

I have several of the cast forms and there are some irregularities (small voids) in the form that seem to be transferring marks to the pieces I am forming. Is there a good way to fill or smooth these areas?

Thanks!

Re: Spine protection for HMB/IMCF

I will be doing a similar concept for my next build. There was a gambeson for sale in Portugal this year with a similar piece installed. Judging from the pics you have I think I would have made it slightly wider. I am planning on making sure that the ones I will build solidly bridge my spine to the ...

Re: Questions about BOTN swords.

Most of the "swords" are beveled and have a fuller of some sort. The"Falchons" are sometimes flat-ish.

Re: Questions about BOTN swords.

I think most of these questions boil down to personal preference. I have owned several swords for this type of combat, as long as some documentation exists to support the weapon, and it meets weight limitations, I think you can do pretty much as you please. There are several makers in eastern Europe...

Re: ISO heavy riveted mail drape

Why do you want a heavy mail drape? Is there a rule for weight you are trying to meet? In my opinion weight in the aventail does not add to the protective value of the helm with the possible exception of steel swords to the neck, in which case I would still prefer a gorget.

Just curious

Help with aluminum chain shirt

I got this new aluminum chain shirt. I love it. I don't love the grey dust it makes. Are there any ways to mitigate or remedy this effect?

Thanks,

You should look up the local guys, many of them may have extra or older gear for sale as well. I know I have made several pieces for other guys on the team. I am not in the buisness of making armor, though.
