Dhougal, The other helmet, the ridge spangen, has already been sold. However, I have a unfinshed 4 panel spangen top with cheekplates originally made by Tristan Keck some years ago. I intend to finish that helmet with a slat-back, nasal and either a grill or a fixed partial faceplate with breathes a...

Its the plastic cutting boards and food grade barrels are made from.

it's availible in a variety of grades depending mainly on how much UV protection you need the plastic to have.

Any large plastics company should have it.

Halv, THANK YOU for posting this. I just finished a set of Lamellar body armour that resembles this more than superficially. I was being told by others that it in no way looked Viking but rather, Mongol or Turkish in design. I'm a bit confused however as the article seems a little vauge on the datin...

I can only assume these are not selling because folks are gone away to Pennsic and have already blown much of thier disposable income. Th...

4Sale - Stainless Lamellar plates and mild steel Wisby Brig

The buyer of the WMA stainless plates has not posted payment so these are up for grabs again. They are brand new, unused. "D" shape Birka lamellar plates that are sold by WMA. I have 400 of these, which should be enough for body armour unless you are a very stout person. I am asking $150 + shipping....

The advantage depends on how long you can keep it. For a tall man this is range, height & reach. While it can be a formidable advantage in closing, I am of the opinion that it frequently then becomes a liability once the fight moves to close quarters. I have found that while I am not terribly tall (...

Ronnin,

If you want to be as historical as possible, don't use wax.

Wax doesn't have to be messy and what mess you may encounter is easily abated by some newspaper.

Wax is simply a SCA expediency that works well for most folks.

Ronin, Was this the post? m If so, I may be able to answer your questions. I found that the bazubands do float out a little more than I'd like, so I added roundels and a floating 1/2 rerebrace to them. I don't think I would try to cram metal elbows inside them, the metal simply is not needed. One co...

Gentles, Road sign aluminum is usually WAY too soft. I prefer a known material and hardness rating. The crease down the center is the peak of a triangular center ridge about 4" deep. The original is a center grip shield and only measures about 23" x 30" (roughly). I'm not entirely sure this is a cro...

Sorry Tom,

It must be aluminum, T-6, and lightweight. USA merchants are preferred as the shipping on a shield from the UK would be too much.
