A couple of questions about Tilt (Joust)

Hey All, I currently have a 14c Churburg style transitional harness (made from Icefalcon Armoury). What would I need to add/subtract to this harness to make it Tilt (Joust) worthy? I'm not looking to actually Tilt in this, just give demostrations to some local school children (ex. hitting stationary...

James, In the book that Clermont mentioned, Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight (Edge and Paddock) if you look at page 77 there is "composite armour of a Vogt of Match, in Schloss Churburg, North Italian, c.1390." Though there isn't a lower part of the harness shown, but the upper part does look ...

Wanted: Medium Size Greaves

Hi all, after posting up about finishing a pair of floating greaves I bought from Icefalcon (making them full instead of floating), I've decided with my limited armoring abilities to purchase some full cased greaves. That is, if I can find them at a resonable price. Anyone have any for sale or know ...

vitus....even though i'm not fighting in them, i'm just showing them off, i feel that the accuracy of them needs to be done...including the shoes. i'm sure the children won't notice one way or the other, but you would be surprised what they notice (if you deal with children at all you probably would...

Is this greave idea possible?

Hey All, I don't have much experience in the making of armour category, but I have been pondering something for awhile now. I bought a harness from Icefalcon Armoury (14c harness, milanese), and it came with a pair of floating greaves. I would like to know if its possible to make a "full" greave by ...

Making Leather Armour?

Hey all, My best friend has come up with the idea of putting on a LARP for his young nephews. He introduced them into pen & paper D&D not too long ago, and he thought that it would be neat to "bring characters to life" if you will. The costumes dont have to be top notch or anything, but I was thinki...

Cutting metal to your scale

After checking out some of the great patterns on this site, I was wondering how you determined the 'scale' for which to draw onto the metal to make sure it fits properly? For example, if you are a medium sized guy, but the pattern is very large or very small, how do you figure out how to adjust for ...

Have you seen "A Knights Tale"? The main character had a leather harness over his padded jack, then put the metal on over the leather (by the looks of things). I dont think thats a bad idea, but would it clear with the SCA?

I like the leather option. Im considering making another coat (mines a tad thin for the armor), and if I do this, Im going to sew in pieces of leather to the coat and run the rope through it. I think that would be the best route. as for the bends, thats beyond me http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smi...

Arming Cap

I'm looking into making an arming cap (I have seen this in books): it has a round piece of cloth attached to it so the helmet will fit better, does anyone have any links to actual arming caps?

thanks
