If it were me I would want my name withheld, so let no one call me graceless as I withhold his, goodly Sir.

Re: Armouring As A Career
One of the problems I can see is that every new piece of armour made is competing with every other piece ever made before it because there is no shelf life. Metal armour is forever and usually outlives its owner(s). There is plenty of dead-guy-hand-me-down armour around in the SCA. I have some mysel...

Top notch high end armorers make ok money when theres patrons available. You are talking about such a nich market in the world. Armouring As A Career
Has any armoury ever turned a profit? Foreign or domestic? Has any armourer ever gotten rich? Foreign or domestic? Does anyone know of an amourer that has ever gotten investment capital with an actual business plan? Foreign or domestic? Is there such a thing as a successful business plan for an armo...

I know a fat guy that held up a Pennsic field battle for an hour by doing this exact thing.
The forever hold came 45 seconds into the battle, just as the lines engaged for the first time.

This helmet was developed after the jousting death of King Henry II of France.
A sliver penetrated his visor and killed him and this helmet design prevented that.

Taunt them with challenges. Pull the Goliath Maneuver. (is there no man here who will...) Strut around in your armour at events and publicly lament the lack of warrior spirit in your region. Go to Court and challenge ALL of them at once. Fighters will appear like magic if you call them names and que...

Yes and that is not a helm. It's just a wrapper.Gustovic wrote:Yes but the point of joustng helms is that the left side is smooth, so the lance can't catch the helm and thus send it flying over the field, or worse, unhorse the wearer.
