Re: Concussions and CTE

Hey All, Yep, I am still around and kicking. I don't joust or fight any longer, which is good because I have stability issues to go along with my memory issues. This has caused a few more concussions (think I am 18 or so) and a nasty case of aphasia (the inability to find a word when speaking or wri...

Re: Concussions and CTE

Hey Lloyd, how are you doing? I just want you to check in and confirm you are OK. Doing okay, Aaron, thanks for checking. As I stated earlier, I have been diagnosed with repetitive concussion syndrome, which has led, directly, to me losing at least 4 career positions since 2005. Not easy by any mea...

Re: FS: MRL European Sword and Sword-hilted Dagger low price

Paladin is right - it looks exactly like the scabbard for the dagger, except that it is longer (of course) - they match pretty well for the "en suite" look. Both blades were sharpened by MRL and they did a pretty good job. The grinds are smooth and straight and should cut very well (I haven't cut wi...

FS: MRL European Sword and Sword-hilted Dagger low price

Hi all, I need to begin getting funds together to get my daughter to national-level track meets, sooooo, I am willing to part (not happily  ) with my brand new MRL European Sword (factory sharpened) and the nearly new, and also sharpened, Sword-hilted Dagger. These two match exceptionally well ...

Re: Concussions and CTE

A PSA- UW Sports Medicine does IMPACT testing, where they take a baseline reading of your mental functions (memory, reaction time, etc). That way, if you are injured, they have something to compare the injured readings to. Of course, most people here are not in the Madison WI area, but it may be wo...

Re: Better helmet design- concussion prevention

I know this is blasphemy, but a good mouthpiece is also critical in helping to prevent concussions....I learned this WAY too late... Last time I looked at the research (probably 5 years ago) nobody had been able to show that mouth guards had any significant protective effect against concussions. Ha...

Re: Concussions and CTE

One guy in Calontir has retired, and has become disabled from concussions from our combat. That is horrible. I hope that some of the people that have earned respect and authority in our shared insanity might begin to lobby for researching changes to make medieval combat (recreation) a bit safer. It...

I think there was some discussion about him in the book "Who Murdered Chaucer?" by Terry Jones. I own a copy and will look through and see what it has and let you know.

SOLD!

:bump:

Noticed when cleaning the blade that the quillon is a bit loose - dropping price to $160 + shipping.

Have a dagger with matching scabbard, but not matching blade, for $20 + shipping.

Buy both "en suite" and I'll cover shipping!
