Except for the eye holes being so large...it looks like it might be a form of bascinet visor similar to a 'pigsnout', or a visor from a c1500 Gothic-Maximillian transitional helmet.

I use a thin rope with a loop tied at both ends. One end goes through the loop around the sword, pulled tight, and then the cord is pulled through the remaining loop. Hand goes in new loop, then the cord is pulled snug.

I think it can teach poor technique. My ultimate pell will be landscape timber (rounded) wrapped in carpet and suspended from above (hanging from a tree, or something else).

It looks like we can see the metal post holding the helmet up (?) inside the helmet, and behind the curve of the 'reflection'.

"Skin Quality" aluminum (often a 2024 alloy) has a layer of pure Al on the surface because it polishes so nicely.

The industry uses a zinc chromate primer on aluminum, but you likely can't get that privately, and it is usually etched with alodine before priming.

The author definitely has a political viewpoint, which is casually related to the subject matter. The pictures are excellent. They are not "Carlo" quality, but still quite good. ;) The book would have been better if they hadn't just taken pictures largely of different helmets on the same suit of arm...

I think that Sir Gaston has made one similar to this. I would say that it was made in halves, and joined with the strip in the middle. There are far too many rivets showing along the 'seam line' for them not to be functional. That bit of metal could be latten or gilded iron. I think the scales would...

Yes, they had helms similar to bascinets way back then. ;) Although from the picture of the stonework I was looking at a couple days ago, I'd guess it might have been out of leather.

But that doesn't work well in the SCA. ;)

It is extremely good. But it is functional, as is 'the real thing', it just has 'fantastic' styling. There are plenty of depictions of "fantasy" armor in the late 15th, that you would probably like. ;)

I don't think that you will be able to document a "Miller" as being allowed in the lists in 1461 England.

You might think about "Thatcher", that is documentable as coming from a very ancient and noble lineage.

It wouldn't be terribly hard to make if you found round tubing that you liked. Assuming you had access to a metal cutting bandsaw, you could clamp two blocks of wood to the table, and push the tubing between them.
