If you want this type of thing, I highly recommend "The Medieval Armour from Rhodes", although it's out of print, as far as I can tell, and the quality of the pictures is hardly in the same universe as the Churburg book. I recall hearing that Chivalry Bookshelf was working on a book called "Survivin...

I've only skimmed through it for about 1/ 2 hour, but here is my impressionistic review: The downside: It was clearly done as "art" photography (and what photography it is!), rather than intended for people who want to repro armour, ...

There is a painted late 15th century gothic cuirass in the Philadelphia musuem. The paint job looks quite old, but I have no idea if it was painted during its working life or not. I'll try to post an image in the next couple of days to see what people think.

I seem to recall that some 15th c Italian cuisses had evidence of originally having an integral lining. It may have been those from the "Avant" suit, but I'm not positive.

Looks much more like late 14th/early 15th c to me. I would be very much surprised if it dated later than 1520, on both stylistic grounds and the configuration of the armour. -Christian ...
