A True Oval is 2 circles with the sides connected by straight lines. My shield that I refer to as a oval is actually an Ellipse.

Wood n Woven is the way to go.. I've been wearing a them for 5+ or so years.. Holy wears them as well.. I've had all types in the past and these are the best I've found.. they are expensive but hold up great.
