Revival Medium Sparrings Gloves?

Anyone use these? I'm thinking about picking some up for ARMA free play and am wondering how they feel. How well do they allow motion? How well do they defend against hard waster shots to the hands?

IMHO (the main factor that kept me out of joining the SCA when I was highly interested a couple years ago) the no lower leg shot rule just makes no sense. As a long time soccer player who has taken lower leg hits all my life and as someone who gets hit in the lower leg on a regular basis with waster...

Ain't nothing wrong with your form. If we had evidence of pin-up art on period engines of war, I'd nominate that picture for such service.

As an in the works Medieval historian and a lover of the period's clothing, I must say as I have said before, God I love a woman in a Medieval dress!!!! God bless you ladies for keeping this style alive. Now if we can only convince the rest of current female society that they would look so much bett...

One thing I would suggest for the padded tunic layer would be to offer it in a full sleeve and 3/4 sleeve version. I suggest this because the Mac appears to show both types and many early period groups, especailly Norman and early Crusader era where aketon use is up in the air, prefer something that...

That would be perfact. Just take into consideration, and I'm sure you have, that all the padded garments in the Mac Bible are not aketons ment to go under armour. I think the bulky looking, visable ones are indeed padded armour ment to be worn by foot troops and those who could not afford/ were not ...

Gwen, Please try to make the Aketon something that will look fitting for pre 14th and 15th century use. As a Norman and early Crusader, trying to find a good, fair priced aketon that fits the period with in reason is near impossible inside the US. I think there is a sizeable market as I know plenty ...

This is nothing but me being somewhat proud of my growing kit, if you look at the brown and red tunic on Klaus the Red's site: http://www.gildedboar.com/garments-common-tunics.htm THAT"S MINE!!! I'm sorry, I just thought it was too cool that my custom tunic was put online. I was looking at his site ...

Gwen, Have ya'll thought about adding a 12th or 13th Century gambeson to your line? Really good gambesons of this period are rare and I think there would be a fairly decent market for them.

One of the 3/4 sleeved gambesons like in the Mac bible would be awsome.

ON is also another anglo-Saxon place identification for a farm. My last name is Harton. The name stems from Hart, a city in Englad that was a collection of small farms in AS times, adding on to ID it as a farm place. Thus, my family name is a geographic location. Also, how exactly does the place name work? Like William of Canturbury and the like. Would one have to be the lord of that locality to claim the title or was it just given like a last name to someone living from that place?

I've never rightly understood that whole system.

I certainly would think a weapon would be desired. Muslim and Christain raiders and bandits were a perpetual problem to crusaders and their followers. This could be as elaborate as a sword and bukler, not out of reach for a fairly well off merchant, or as simple as the staff most pilgrams carried. W...

Why Chausses?

This is something that I was postulating on today. Why did Medieval peoples wear chausses? Trousers were known from the time of the celts and seem like an easier solution than two garments you have to tie on. Where do they originate and why. It seems they would not be as effective at holding in warm...
