HP 17" Notebook and Accessories for Sale
My mobile needs have changed and I went with a teeny, tiny laptop, instead of my usual uber-laptop. There really is no need for three laptops so someone is going to get a great deal on my 1.5 yr old HP DV9230us (sn: cnf70833kp). System Intel T1550 1.67Ghz Core 2 CPU 2Gb RAM (expandable to 4 Gb) NVid...

Years ago I asked a friend of mine to come visit. We figured he could make back his travel expenses at a local Midrealm SCA fighting event by selling armour. Well, the merchant setup time was right the same as when the fighting started. The fights were setup so nobody could leave the fighting area a...

Scabbards (props to Aaron Schnatterly)
Folks, Wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured Construction was a good start. I understand armour. I understand weapons. I have never understood scabbards. Now I know why. The scabbards that I have ever seen/handled were heavy, unwieldy and very much NOT what I think was used historically. They ...

Wanted - Blank Leather Patches
OK, I am drawing a blank (no pun intended). Looking all over for about 3" diameter leather blanks. Natural veg tanned finish. Perhaps 6-8oz. Will be used for Motorcycle club patches. I can find completed leather patches, such as the WWII vintage, but can't find anything on just the blanks. Any ideas?

As to the inner elbow lame being salvaged form elsewhere, it's certainly possible. It would also have had to be cut to size, and given some fairly subtle compound curves and slot articulation. It seems there's been an acusation of a crime, but no clear evidence of one, and no obvious motive, as add...

The exhibit curators say it's late 14th century. If they're correct, it's earliest piece I know of with a lame on the inner arm. I recently finished a reproduction of it, and that lame works quite well. There are some pictures of my version on my armouring blog: http://burgundianhours.blogspot.com/...

I seem to remember some discussion about there being sliding rivets at the top of the plates. I can't remember for sure. Chris Correct, first two side plates collapse in slightly at the top due to solid rivets at the bottom point and sliding rivets at the top. If only I could search for the drawing...

Arms and Armour from the Royal Collection in London
Simon Metcalf dropped us a little nugget regarding armour highlights from royal residences that are currently on display. I thought I would pass it along: Dear ARS members, I thought you may be interested to know that some highlights of the Collection from Windsor Castle & other Royal residences wil...

Brian (or anyone else), on the original, were the plates connected only by the lining, or also by leather "hinges?" I've seen the good inside view shown above, and it appears to have both, but maybe the "hinges" are repairs? The plates were connected by vertical strips of leather. The lining did no...

That is very, very nice! Haven't seen Bob this worked up over a reproduction in a long time. Who wants to start a collection to get these into the hands of the ARS? Christopher While a grand idea, one that I particularly like.... It would be a sad demise. I can't imagine where we would house all of this in a proper environment (other than Doug's bsaement! ). Personally, I could see...

But I wonder as was discussed, if the cloud over it (ie, the Dean issue) has detered more people from studying it further. [/i] . Bingo. There is not much to study. It is what it is. What could be "studied" has been. If you have particular questions on this suit, let me know off forum. I can point ...

I'm bidding on all of your books so we can keep them local! I doubt they will go anywhere at the price i have set... but if they do, I have scans of the journals.... so no loss of info. None of the books are very hard to get hold of, nor extremely crucial. I thin you have all or most of them. By th...
