Want to hear or expect to hear. I think you're largely right. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'll never change the opinions of people like Richard Blackmoore or Vitus and others of the same opinion. I've decided that there is no reason to beat that dead horse anymore. I realized that t...

What I like about shaping the leather with a hammer and a dish is that it seems to compress the fibers of the leather real nice and tight. I've never worked with lasts so I dunno , does it do that too as it dries?

Hi Gregory I was agreeing with the statement that the SCA wasnt gonna ever be someones own personal idea of what they thought it 'should' be. Narrow mindedness like that has always irked me and I've never been shy about telling them to piss off. Personally I have a lot of interests ranging from real...

"I've stated so many times on here that I think the SCA is a very worthy thing. I've stated many times that I have much respect for certain members of the SCA. I'm not sure why people still have the impression that I have such blanket disdain for the SCA. "

Hope it helps Odo.

Because the SCA is part of that path. It's a place to go to test myself against worthy opponents that play the same game I do, just from a different perspective. I learn from the people that I fight, both good and bad things. I also am able to teach them some in turn. It's a growth thing all around....

Alaric I dont understand why you are so emphatically stating the obvious. The point I was making was that while Tamock is obviously the equal of any he's following his heart and spirit. I'm sure that if he were to feel that his spirit was that of an SCA knight he'd have that accolade in a hot minute...

Hi James. Once you get the leather shaped how you want it you put it in your oven at about 180 degrees. Check it every few minutes or so to make sure you dont cook it to the point where it gets brittle and cracks. A good idea is to soak a test piece and bake it so you get an idea of what to look for...

LOLOL So in other words if Tamock wasnt Tamock he'd be a knight? I think that what makes a good man is the same for Tuchux or SCA. It's our choice of how we express that that dileneates what we look look or what our name is. There are knights in the SCA that I hold in the highest regard because they...

Yes. Tamock is an outstanding fighter. I have nothing but respect for him and am very glad to count him as family. He is indeed on a quest for prowess and honor and I think he raises the bar not just for Tuchux but for anyone that would put on armor and take the field. I wish I were half the warrior...

The noble stuff is awesome for lamellar. It's easy and if you do it right it's the last armour yuou ever need to make. But it's not scale. That's the only thing I was saying about the Scythian stuff.

Ok, So men is 'full face'. It's seperate from the helmet just like mine was. Grettr made the so men for Dagar as well as the one in the picture of him he's wearing. As well as the spectacle helm and gauntlets. He's mad skilled.

Thank you both for your eloquent responses. I see your points and I agree with them to a great degree. But what I was asking for was what made a good Tuchuk. Not why a Tuchuk isnt a knight. The point of loyalty was raised and yah, we tend to be quite loyal. However that isnt particular to my tribe. ...

Tamock is an excellent fighter. His armor is a bit on the lacking side but he seems to be comfortable in it. And I'm quite certain he had no problems hitting those dogs hard enough. Just poking fun at the double standard is all.

No way. That had to have been your imagination. I'm certain there would never be a man of the SCA that would sacrifice his honor by not accpeting the same sort of blow from a Tuchuk that he would from everyone else! No way!
