Go join a boxing club. Spend your time there thinking about similarities with SCA.

Re: 16 gauge Stainless Steel Shield Bosses for sale

Hey guys. I'm not a crook, and nobody is getting ripped off here although I do understand why you're concerned. I got 3 shipments returned back to me because I didn't do my paperwork right for the border. I tried to fedex them today but need to get phone numbers. They won't let me send without your ...

Estrella was a lot of fun. I am jealous as hell about your 5 minute commute. We had a 27 hour drive each way to get there. Avacal isn't close to many of the big wars tho so gotta go to them and it's hard to fit your camp and armour in a 40lb checked bag and a carry-on. Fighting was great. Lots of fu...

Greetings All, I'm looking to buy some cutlery for SCA feasts for my family. I'm looking for a set for 6 people appropriate to a Norse persona. Anybody have any merchant recommendations or ideas as to the best source of this? Looking for good quality at a reasonable price. Not necessarily the cheape...

Perusing the Calontir Calender, your best bet is the event in Lonely Tower (Omaha, NE). Baronial investiture for Mag Mor will be at that event, so there ought to be a good showing. http://www.lonelytower.org/springfling08/flyer.pdf Thanks, that looks about perfect. Now hopefully I will be able to h...

KS, NB event May 10 or Fight practice in SD, ND May 11

Is there a good fighting event somewhere in Kansas or Nebraska next Saturday? I'm travelling up the I35-I335-US75-I29 so passing through Wichita, Topeka, Omaha, etc. Just looking for a good afternoon fight to get out of the truck and move around a bit. Not hanging out for anything else, sorry, don't...

That's good. Sometimes people are pulling on their return before the shot has landed. Which means that the shot looks fast but since the thrower is pulling it back before it hits, there isn't the impact that it looks like there should have been.

Targetting about a foot on the other side of the guys head and swing for that will result in a lot more power being transferred that just targetting a guys head. Lots of guys throw fast and are already throwing a second shot before the first one has finished landing. The throwing of the second shot ...

Oh, and excessive is like porn. Can't define it, but you know it when you see it.

But even with that said, I think that excessive shots are really really rare. As in there are probably a similar number of virgins on the thrones.

I think the picture shows the guy being really fast. He was so fast, that he sensed the Duke's shot coming and was dodging it. He moved his head out of the way so fast that his face got shmushed up against the bars as he was dodging. It took a little bit of time for the helmet to catch up to his dod...

When going backwards, if the guy gets past your tip, remember that you can stop, plant and crosscheck. When you crosscheck the guy, remember that he will be throwing a shot. Probably an onside snap or wrap. So you have to catch that with your spear as well. But if you get a good crosscheck in, you c...

Can I make a question? If i'm not wrong, SCA simulate unarmored combat (or all the same armour despite how it really appears) and the rattan weapon simulate a sword. If this is the scenario, there should no need to club your opponent with a lot of force. If you use too much force, it turn into club...

I think it'd probably depend where you live. Tip heavy hits hard but is slower. So if you need to hit with significant power, put your balance out front. If I lived in some of the light hitting kingdoms, I probably have a pommel and balance it at my middle finger in the grip. That'd be super-fast bu...

16 gauge (or more properly the thousandths of an inch conversion) is safe for combat in all kingdoms. The problem with it is that it remains safe for a relatively short time. In a hard hitting kingdom, your hat will be dented up pretty quickly if you are playing with the big dogs. By pretty quickly,...

I'd say .02 is too thin. My Ti lamellar is .035 and is just right. .02 is almost half that and I don't think that would last.
